My family and I are staying at BC. My question is ,on this board and others I have seen "walkway to MGM-Studios"referenced.Is this "walkway" accessible behind the Epcot Resort area or do you have to walk out on the main roads? I have also seen maps on here descibing this area but it is very confusing. Could someone please describe to me in detail this access area? TIA. P.S. This board and the people on it are the best !!!!!!!

From BC, you'll walk along the water past the Yacht Club, over the bridge to the Boardwalk and hang a right. The path goes along the same waterway that the boats use, past the BWV and into the bus stop area of the MGM entrance. You are never on a main road - just a nice meandering path along the water. It's about 20-30 minutes depending how fast you walk and is faster than the boat in many cases. It's a great way to get back without having to hassle with the crowds after Fantasmic.

It's a pretty far walk from the BC but we did this walk (with a 2.5 yr old in a stroller) a few times when we stayed at BCV. I like taking the walk but only when it's not too hot out.

It is an actual sidewalk/walkway, not a main road. The walkway follows the canal from MGM over to the Boardwalk area. It is goes right along the back of the BWV (you will see the main BWV pool--the one with the giant, white clown slide) and the Swan & Dolphin are across the canal from the walkway. Then you come to a bridge at the back of Jelly Rolls and Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk. You can go into the Boardwalk area or go across the bridge and go past the Yatch Club and over to the Beach Club (which is the faster way back to BC).

I recall there one section where the road is above you, as in overpass, so you do hear the rattling of vehicles during that brief period. I'm a big walker so prefer it to taking the boat (can't stand those diesel fumes!), but I've only done it in cooler weather.

This walkway was very hot in early April. We were staying at the BWV, right beside the walkway and only took it once. It is a fairly long walk from the BWV, even longer from BC and is without shade on some parts. We were very hot and tired before we reached MGM. We took the boat from then on.

DW and I have taken this walk a few times and found it relaxing, took us approx 30 - 35 min, it is a long walk, so be prepared, especially if its in the mid day time range, it can be tiring from the heat. :cool1:

That is dh's and my favorite walk. We actually walk to MGM from Epcot. It's long but it's one of our Disney traditions.

Thanks everyone for all your responses. They will prove very helpful!!!! :) :) :)

Take the boat.

Or go early in the morning, or late the day, when the sun isn't too fierce. It's a fairly tedious trek, flat, with little shade. You can do it from the BW in about 15 minutes, so it would be close to 20 from the BC.

The boat is less than 30 minutes. And a lot more fun. :boat: pirate:

I agree with take the boat! Although it is not the wonderful secret it used to be, it's a great way to park hop from MGM to World showcase, and will stop at the Epcot resorts on the way!

We've walked several times from the BCV to MGM, a slightly longer walk than from the BC. We find it to be a peaceful, pretty walk. It can be faster to walk than to take the boat, especially if you have to wait for the boat to arrive.
If it is really hot, we take the boat.
Either way, MGM is really close to the BC and it is a great area to be in.
