Walking with borrowed points?

We want to stay at HHI Easter Sunday through the following Friday am next year. If I tried to walk the reservation I would need to borrow more points than I actually need to cover the higher points of the Friday and Saturday nights that would be eliminated as the reservation is walked.

Am I right that I would end up with wasted borrowed points if I tried to do this ?

Any ideas about how to accomplish this?

Thanks again everyone!

Yes it does seem that would be the case. It wouldn't matter if you have another trip planned in that use year to use up the points, though. But if you don't you're going to have excess points stuck in that use year.

As long as the number of borrowed points you will be using for the reservation won't exceed the number of current UY points, you can ask them, once you have reservation secure, to use the borrowed points instead of current UY points. Then, you can bank your current UY points to the next year.

The only drawback I see to this is then you will have banked points in your next UY (instead of just current UY points) which will have to be used up. But, if you are planning to travel in your next UY as well, then it doesn't matter.

For example, say you need 200 points for the trip and have to borrow 50 points to walk it. As long as you are using at least 50 current UY points as part of that 200, you can make it work.

Good luck!

sorry for the newbie question, but what is "walking" a reservation?

Walking is when some one makes a reservation earlier than the desired date and cancels/adds days daily until they get to the desired travel dates. This gives the walker an advantage by getting the days they want ahead of others.

IMO, walking an Easter week reservation for HH is just not necessary. I definitely would not attempt it if I had to borrow points to do it. JMHO. YMMV.
