Walking to and from the parks

Thanks. How did you like the Ho Jo's? Also, I was trying to figure out while looking at pics, is it more like a motel where you can walk up to your door and go right in or like a hotel, where your the door to your room is inside a building that you have to walk in to get to ? Hope that made sense.

As a PP answered, HoJo's has inside corridors. We stayed in Building 1 and the entrance doors were always locked when we returned at night (after midnight) so only people with room keys can enter. I assume that it is the same for the other buildings. I've only stayed at a few places near DLR (GCH and Fairfield Inn) and HoJo's is my favorite right now simply because of the value and quality of the place (we were able to get the Entertainment Rate during our stay). The room was nice and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I would definitely stay there again especially if the Entertainment Rate is available. :)

oh awesome

sounds great

thanks :goodvibes

I can honestly say, I've walked back and forth from the HOJO by myself several times (during the annual Ladies trip), even at night, and I've never felt unsafe. There was always LOTS of people (couples and families) around, so I was never really "alone" per se. Even at 11:00pm. Sometimes there's some.....interesting looking people waiting for a bus at the bus stops (on both sides of Harbor) but I've never felt unsafe or threatened in any way by anyone. There's just too many people around.

The traffic, on the other hand, can really zoom along at times, so be careful of that, because you just never know when someone may run a red light while speeding through.

We have seen the same "strange" man sitting at the bus stop on the park side on two different trips. Both times he was shaving......with shaving cream late at night! :confused3

But he seemed harmless and completely ignored us.

I would be scared too if just myself and my son (6.)

But my husband will be there. If not, I would save up the money to stay at one of 3 disneyland hotels:goodvibes

I've done the walk with just myself and my 2 girls, when they were 9 and 12 instead of 10 and 13. DD13 tends to walk ahead of us and I've never been overly worried, slightly concerned about the speedy traffic but that's about it, and in fact I see more traffic on the "other" side of Harbor then the side we use, when we walk that way from the HoJo I'm always more worried.

Haha, I've seen him too......LOL

That is a riot :rotfl:

You're very welcome! Have fun on your trip!!!

Now just have to wait

We normally go to Disney World ever year, but since we want to go to DL and are from east coast, we have to skip DW in 2010 and wait for 2011 for DL

This wait is going to be torture :rotfl:

So they don't check your bags like at WDW then?

Even though they check your bags, they don't do a very thorough job. Plus, you can always carry weapons in your pants/jacket pocket since they don't check those.

It seemed very safe to me... We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and walked to and from the parks at various times of the day including late at night, I was with my boyfriend but I did the walk on my own once (I wanted a proper look around the WOD store and my bf was bored, I know this may sound odd to some but we split up when shopping is involved pretty often!) and didn't feel unsafe.

 I wonder if he was the same guy we saw clipping his nails at that bus stop, weird!
