I just booked an appointment over the phone and the CM told me to plan 22 minutes walking time from SDMT to Harmony Barbershop. I said no way and she said yes way, and it will take every minute of that at any time of day. What the heck? Its been a few years but I do NOT remember it taking that long to walk form the gate to, say, Small World (last time we went the New Fantasyland was just shy of opening).

I am looking at my TP plan and it says 8 minutes. Which seems more reasonable? Now I'm worried my whole TP is wrong.

I often get blasted when I report actual walking times (that've personally timed, even though we are FAST walkers), but I'd say 22 minutes is too long.

It might be slightly over 8 minutes, but probably not more than 12-13 most of the day.

UNLESS, you happen to be doing it around the same time as the parade, fireworks, etc. If so, then I'd allow more time.

It is also a longer walk when coming from Fantasyland when the castle tunnel is closed vs. when you're allowed to cut through it.

CM is wrong, the TP estimate seems much more in line. I mean, maybe if you were walking against traffic like at rope drop or something while also pushing a stroller and herding a large group of people who have the attention span of a gnat and keep wondering off in different directions, then it might take you 22 minutes. ;)

She also tried to convince me that you could fit Disneyland and DCA inside of Magic Kingdom alone :thumbsup2 yeah sure you can lol

Herding a large family with the attention span of a gnat is somewhat accurate, however I just leave them behind LOL
And no, we are talking noon

I think the issue may come from the long-stated idea that you can fit Disneyland inside the main MK parking lot.

Actually, that is true.

As for the walking from SDMT to Harmony Barbershop, I would say 10 - 12 minutes at a pretty comfortable pace. You could probably pick up the pace and shave a couple of minutes or really lally gag and take a couple extra. But no way it's 22 minutes even if you were going against the crowd right after a parade.

I can’t tell what I’m looking at?

MK is 105 acres, DL is 85 (will be 100 when SW opens) and DCA is 72. Not even close to fitting inside.

ETA oh I see your edit now. That might make more sense, but she was trying to tell me that Magic Kingdom is twice the size of Disneyland and it takes almost half an hour to walk across the park

Actually, I have to take that back and did a google check just now and I was a bit off with my memory. Magic Kindgom is 107 acres, Disneyland is 85 and California Adventure is 55.

DCA is 72. 55 might have been before Cars Land or something?

I just got curious, so I looked it up - and apparently Disneyland Resort is 85 acres (estimated to be around 100 acres after completion of Star Wars Land), while Magic Kingdom is 107 acres... so apparently she was right about that one! (That 22 minutes thing is bonkers, though.)

I have heard a similar statement from a tram operator once - "The entire Disneyland could fit in the parking lot." This was to encourage people to take a note of where they parked. Based on my crude Google Maps measurements, the MK's parking lot is 103 acres (124 if you count the big patch in the middle), so that seems to be true. I came up with 116 acres for Magic Kingdom, but that includes some empty space (backstage) between Fantasyland and the Rail Road.

As for walking times, as long as you aren't walking at a snail's pace (like too many folks) it should take nowhere near that long. In 20-30 minutes, I can assuming everything (monorail) is working, running on time, and I am not going on a super crowded day, get from my Parking Space at the TTC to Fantasyland. So, there is no reason it should take 22 to get from the middle of the park to the front.

Oh no, she said DL AND DCA could fit inside MK. That’s not even close ;-)

DL is 85 (soon to be 100) and DCA is 72. MK is 105.

Oops, my bad! Yeah, DLR might be small, but it's not THAT small!

I walked the reverse in under 8 minutes in September. I had a PPO breakfast at Be Our Guest. I entered the park on the left side entrance (the side the barbershop is on). The time stamp on my photos show that I entered the park at 7:46am and was at BOG at 7:53am.

I did not power walk. I walked an average pace.

Depending on the crowds and how many people in your party and wether or not you have a stroller, I would say give or take a minute you should be able to get from 7DMT to the Barbershop in around 10 minutes.

ETA: I just consulted the MDE app and according to the walking directions given there, it should only take 6 minutes
