Has anyone ever worn a pedometer to measure how far they walked in a day or a week at WDW?
Just curious as to how far an "average" day might be in anyone of the parks.

I've never worn a pedometer but I read somewhere on the DISboards that the average person walks 25 miles a day. That sounds like a bit much, but the only way to know for sure is to wear a pedometer.

I'm interested to see if someone else replys to your post that has worn one to see how far they walked.

YEP! I wore my pedo last year and averaged:
3 miles in MGM
5 miles in MK and AK
9 miles in Epcot

I'll be wearing it again this year. We are going w/ "Commando" type friends. Open to close including EMH is their style :faint:

Yeah, I think the average is around 5 miles a day. It certainly feels like it at the end of the day in the hotel room when your legs have stopped working.

I've read the average is 5-10 miles a day. 25 miles is not realistic, since normal people walk about 3 miles an hour, even less in crowds, and you spend an awful lot of time eating and in rides/shows, so I would say 5-10 sounds normal.

And with all that walking most of us still gain weight.

With traveling back and forth from Africa to Asia grabbing fast passes when we could and traveling back to use the last one, we did 12 miles at AK one day. We did everything we wanted to do but there was a lot of walking!

i beleive the 5-10. I know it felt that way when I was last there. That may have to do with the shoes I was wearing.

You can count me in as one of those people!!! I always think, this is my time to lose some weight with all of this walking, but to my astonishment, gain no loss. I'm sure all of that eating wouldn't have anything to do with it.

I didn't think 25 miles sounded right...but that was the only reference I had read up to this point of how far anyone walked at WDW. But, if you consider how much you have to walk in some of the ride lines....that could make the steps add up fast on a pedometor with all the zig-zag lines!!

I will bring mine and let you know how I make out. 25 does seem a bit high.

I have a friend who has a GPS tracker thing that I walk with every day and it's very accurate. I may ask her to borrow it when were on our trip and see what it comes up with.
I can totally see gaining and not loosing - especially with the mind set of "let's try everything"!!!
ha ha ha

:rotfl2: No kidding, you can really feel it at the end of the day.

I used one for the first time last year and did 8-10 miles a day, although I did do 13 miles one day (I think I was at Epcot that day). 10,000 steps in 2 days isn't really much walking because it's only about 4 miles - I can easily do that in one day at home.
