I have never heard of these before, have you? ( well, I never did til this week )

Basically you get the mini bags of Fritos, open the top and add taco / nacho ingredients to the bag, put a fork in, and you are good to go.

I'm having a pig roast in a few weeks, and I am going to put these out for guests, except that I am going to put out shredded SMOKED BRISKET, instead of ground beef.

Sounds like a good starter, until the pig is done about 3 hours after the party starts.

There's a family we see at the pool who eats these all of the time. I've never tried them myself, but they seem easy enough to make.

We also do Frito Pie-- open the bag and top with chili and onions and cheese. YUM!

We give these to the kids when we go camping (we dine on more adult food), but use doritos! They, of course, LOVE them.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE walking tacos!! Probably more than I should.. :goodvibes They sell them at baseball and football games around here, plus we make them when we go camping. We use doritos instead of fritos, though.. but now I think I'm going to have to try it with fritos!

they sell them at fair and carnivals around here. I think the kids can also buy them on certain lunch days at school.

When I was in High School many, many years ago, they were served at the snack bars. We called them Pepper Bellys. Beefy chili, cheese, lettuce, onions and (optional) tomatoes.

Your version is more like a Frito Pie -- we used to sell those at my grade school concession stand. The addition was chili and cheese.

Hhhm, my invite for your party hasn't shown up yet.

I wonder what could have happened to it?

Geez, I never expected anybody to come from Cali to PA! ;)

Seriously, though, I actually have an internet friend coming from Canada. never met the guy before. He's coming down to do a baseball team stadium tour, and cleared the day for my party.

So you put all the stuff in the bag with the chips? we have Frito pie on the menu at Sonic and it's served at our school cafeteria, but the chips put into little paper trays and then topped with chili and cheese.

Yep! Just open one of the little 99 cent bags of chips, and then dump in the taco meat, cheese, salsa, lettuce, etc.. or chili, cheese, onions - depending on whatever kind you want. We usually cut our bags open on the side of the bag, instead of opening from the top. It's usually a little less messy that way, so you don't have to stick your hand as deep into the bag.

Thanks for the tip!

Taco in a bag!

Our schools do it once in a while for lunch. I keep meaning to do it at home sometime for DH to try, but haven't done it.

Our school uses Doritos. Well, the high school uses real Doritos and the middle school uses an off brand. I don't know why since it's all run by the same company. :confused3

Cool! I'll have to try this. I love making "fixins bars" for things!:thumbsup2

We usually just use a fork! :rotfl:

We call them Walking Tacos. My Girl Scout troop cooks these for every campout. We use Fritos, taco meat, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Dump it all in the bag, pinch top closed and shake it up, then eat it straight out of the bag.

Haven't tried this with chili yet, but I bet its delicious!

Oh, what, you mean you don't just shove your hand in there and eat it by the handful?!

I still manage to get my hand all cheesy when I open the bag from the top.. even with a fork. ;)

Ooh, I love these! DH grew up on them in the Sandusky, OH school system. He got me started on them, and we got the neighbors going on them. No one that we're met here in Chicagoland had heard of them before. Must be a regional thing.

We're definitely partial to the Doritos. I love Cool Ranch with mine.
