Have read mixed reviews on this...Some say it is walking distance...some say it is not. Some recommend the ART shuttle...some do not. Im guessing this place is on the border of walking/too far to walk. How long does it actually take to walk it?? Im assuming we could walk it in the am and then ride the shuttle back and forth for/from midday break, etc. Any input is greatly appreciated. :thumbsup2

I've stayed there several times and taken the ART bus and driven to the parking lots. Although it is theoretically within walking distance I would never do so unless I had no other option or I was only there for one day. People in general do an insane amount of walking any given day at the parks and to add on another mile is just crazy to me. From the hotel to the Best Western Park Place Inn which is right by the cross walk is .8 of a mile but you still have to walk to the entrance gates from there. I think it would be a twenty minute walk . . . if you aren't lagging from a long day at the parks. The only thing that I think would make it viable to walk for more than one day is if you are used to walking multiple miles a day, every day. That's my .02 for what it is worth. (Possibly nothing ;))

We will be there again in 13 days (woot woot!) and are planning on the ART busses. They can get crowded in the morning and the evenings but you aren't on them long and generally people are either in a good mood or so tired at the end of a day that they are quiet. Plus the hotel is the first pick up so you are pretty much sure to get a seat unless you chose to give it up for someone elderly or with a young child to hold on a lap.

We'll be at the Suites in 14 days for a two week visit - have fun! I thought the PS was the first pick up but someone else on here said no. Good to know I wasn't going crazy. It really is great to get an empty bus and a good seat. I wonder if there is still construction going on at the PS?

We will be there at the same time! We will be leaving for home the 30th though. The construction is done, thank goodness. I was there in October and January and I am so glad it is done now. I am looking forward to seeing the roof deck and the breakfast be back to normal. I am going to go have a peak at your link and see how your planning is going. :) It's kind of exciting knowing another Dis member will be at the hotel the same time. Maybe we'll run into each other.

When we walked it (no kids, just DBF and myself) it took us about 25-30 minutes. We didn't walk back, we took a taxi. We own with Shell so have stayed at the Peacock many times. When we rode ART it was definitely not the first stop, the shuttle was full when it stopped to pick up, because of that we decided to never ride ART from there again. That was a few years ago so it's possible that things have changed but I can't say for sure. You could try calling them and asking, they may know. Now we just drive and park, we either have free parking from AAA or we get AP's and one will be a Premium for the discounts and free parking.

We have stayed here twice. In terms of preference, my choice of getting to the parks would be:

1. Shuttle
2. Walking
3. Driving + Parking

It was about a mile, if I recall, but it wasn't too bad. I walked several times by myself, and a few times with my younger siblings. It took about the same amount of time as it was to walk to a tram and get to a car and manage to drive back, and it was free, so it was worth it to me. I got a Coke Float from the Ice Cream place on MS, and walked back. Made the walk much more bearable and fun! While I'd personally walk again, I'd recommend a shuttle for overall convenience.

For those of you recommending the ART, what time should we board if we are wanting to be at the park 30 minutes prior to a 9am park opening??

Taken from the ART website. The route has 3 actual stops. It looks like the buses start 1 hour and 20 minutes before Disneyland opening time. They run approximately every twenty minutes. The bus ride should take approximately 10 minutes one way.

ROUTE 7
Peacock Suites
Greenwood Suites
Residence Inn Anaheim Maingate
Howard Johnson
McDonald's
Mimi's Cafe
Disneyland Resort Main Transportation Center

It looks like route 2 is actually only a four minute walk from the Peacock Suites as well so I guess if that bus was ready to leave the parks you could always take it back if Bus 7 isn't there. I've never done that but the passes are not restricted to any route.

See you there!

Good to know about the construction. Not that it was bad for us the last two times or anything.

Tasscrapper, Thank you for the website info. This has been so helpful. Thank all of you for your info and I wish those of you with upcoming trips a great time!

You are welcome!

Jerry the construction on the whole didn't bother me until our last trip in January. They were working on the breakfast room so they were serving breakfast outside in that open area by the elevators. They did have heaters set up but it was still chilly and the breakfast offerings were not very good. I normally am fine with the breakfast and I just wasn't aware of it before we went so it was a bit of a surprize. Overall I thought they did ok considering the circumstances and I am really excited about seeing everything put together now that it is done. The last two times I've been has been in redone rooms and they have been really nice. I like the new bedding ect. Oh except the pillows. Holy cow they were hard. I wonder if I can pack a squishy one in my luggage? :lmao: I think I will actually just call and find out if they have any soft ones at all.
