Walking from Epcot to MGM?

At a good pace, I think the walk took us about 25 mins. or a bit more. We went via the Boardwalk.

It's a nice walk but a long one. It took us about 35-40 minutes.

I was going to say it is about 30 minutes. And you want to go on the Boardwalk side, going toward Beach Club will take longer. If you don't want to walk, you can take the boat from Epcot to MGM. The boat takes about the same amount of time, it stops at the 3 resorts.

I love that walk in the early morning. It's beautiful. I never paid attention to the time, but I would also guess it around 30 minutes, strolling pace.

It's not a long walk, but after walking all over the parks, I take the boat. Takes a few minutes longer but it's very relaxing =)

Thanks all! What 3 resorts does the boat stop at?

We decided to go the park hopper tickets after flirting with the base ticket, so this has added a great deal of flexibility to our planning.

The boat ride from Epcot to MGM sounds like a good way of doing it. Looking at the map I asume that the boat takes you past the resorts inbetween the two parks, is that correct? We have seen pictures of the resorts and we wanted to have a look at them (we are staying at All-Stars) because they look quite spectactular in their own right. How often does the boat leave Epcot and how long is the journey?

On the topic of park hopping, we are interested in taking the mono rail from MK to Epcot on one of the days, where do you catch the monorail from in MK? I'm sure it's hard to miss once we are there, but thought I'd ask. Again, how often does the monorail run and how long does it take?

Cheers.

The boat ride takes you past the BW Inn & Villas, the Swan & Dolphin and the YC/BC. Great waterside views of the resorts. You'll enjoy the leisurely ride between the parks. The boats run continuously during the day and evening hours ~ you normally shouldn't have to wait any more than 20 minutes for a boat, usually less.

I love riding the Friendship boats :boat: Of course, I am a bit prejudiced ~ my daughter is at WDW right now doing the college program and she is one of the boat captains :)
So, if you are on one of the boats in the coming months and have a friendly blonde captain tell her "HI" :wave2:

Does she happen to do Illuminations Cruises also? We had a very cute, young, blonde girl as our IC captain in February. She was quite friendly!

Does anyone here think it's possible to see Illuminations at 9:00, then get to the Studios before the 10:00 closing for the second, 10:30, showing of Fantasmic, as long as we don't mind sitting in the back or on the sides? Don't know if I'll feel like trying it, but maybe, if it's possible. :confused3

jceman- that might be possible, but it would be very close!

cann- this walk from EPCOT to MGM becomes even longer when you stop at Y&BC and Beaches and Cream for a good hamburger and a chocolate shake! BUT, it breaks it up into 2 shorter trips- so really, it's not that long of a walk after all !!!;)

on our past trip we watched the 7:30 fireworks, went through all the hassal of leaving Fantasmic...got fastpast 4 RNR....caught the boat 2 Epcot and made it just in time 2 watch Illuminatons on the bridge by France....it was certaintly close we made it just in time...and we ran 2 catch the boat from mgm 2 epcot but we did it!!! however w/ Fantasmic they say 2 be there an hour ahead of time...we got there a 1/2 an hour b4 and they were almost done filling the far left side....we walked all the way down the center and got a great spot 3rd row....however my dad went up about 10 min. later 2 get something 2 eat, and he said they were telling people they all had 2 stand...i guess it just depends on the crowds...i would watch the fireworks at epcot on the bridge by france run and get the boat rite when it ends....the boat only takes about 30 min....and illuminatons only takes about 15 min...so u could possibly at mgm by 9:45 and be at Fantasmic about 40 min early....i say go 4 it...but u might have 2 hurry

So, you basically have 2 options on MGM to Epcot?

Take a bus back to TTC then to other park or take a boat?

I may have asked this already but where exactly does the boat drop you off at both parks?

That has to be shorter than the bus version.

Thanks

Michele

yes, the boat would be alot shorter than taking the bus.... the boat drops you off in front of the main enterance at MGM and at the back enterance of Epcot, at the world showcase...hopes this helps

The bus goes from MGM to Epcot front entrace direct (you do not have to go to TTC).
