I am sure someone out there can help me out. I need to know some walking distances. Can a person walk from MGM to Fantasia Mini Golf? I really don't want to take a cab if possible. We are looking to go there on our first afternoon then to MGM for Fantasmic. Also just wondering how close is MGM to CBR? I would think the map looks deceiving. It appears to share a small group of trees between them.

The walk from MGM to Fantasia Mini-Golf is one of the few at WDW that I would say is doable. The distance as the crow flies is quite short, but the route you take walking is much longer, about 1 mile.

WALKING DIRECTIONS FROM MGM TO FANTASIA MINI-GOLF
To get there, first leave MGM and walk toward the lake. Go right when you get to the water, past the bus stops; this is the walkway that leads to the Epcot Resorts area.
MGM Entrance Map

The first major landmark you will come to is the bridge where Buena Vista Drive crosses over the canal and walking path. Go under the bridge, and on the other side you will see a path that will take you up onto the bridge itself; take this path.

You are now on a walking path that follows Buena Vista Drive. Continue on until you reach the first intersection, which is Epcot Resorts Blvd. Turn right. You will see Fantasia Mini-Golf accross the street, but don't cross yet, because there is no sidewalk on the Fantasia side.

Follow the path along Epcot Resorts Blvd. until you come to the far side of Fantasia Mini-Golf; during this walk, you will have the parking lot of the Swan hotel on your right.

Keep going until you have completely passed the Swan and Fantasia - there is a large crosswalk there that will take you safely across the road and lead you past the Swan and Dolphin's tennis courts to the Fantasia entrance.

DIRECTIONS FROM MGM TO CBR
As to getting from MGM to CBR - take the bus. It would be about a 2-3 mile walk, but there is a large section of Buena Vista Drive that has no sidewalk, and several intersections with no crosswalks, making it a very dangerous idea to try walking to CBR from ANYWHERE. Take the bus, and live to tour another day.

I agree, take the boat to the Swan and Dolphin and walk from there. Much faster and easier.

Our "rule" for taking the boat versuses walking to the Swan/Dolphin is this:

If the boat is sitting at the dock at MGM or you can see the boat approaching the dock, then take the boat. If the boat has just pulled out or there isn't a boat anywhere in sight, walk.

The walk to the Swan/Dolphin is about twenty minutes. The boat ride from the minute is pulls out from the dock at MGM is 7-8 minutes. Add to that the wait time for a boat to show up (can be as long as 20 minutes but usually about 10-15 minutes if there's not a boat in sight or one just pulled out) and the unloading and then loading time.

It's all in the timing of the boat, whether you are in a hurry, and whether you are tired.

You cannot walk from Caribbean Beach to MGM. Well, you can but make sure your health insurance is paid up. That stretch of the road is VERY heavy with traffic and no one is expecting pedestrians. There are no sidewalks. It's not worth it.

Thanks for the replies. I knew I could count on the Dis for the answer. I didn't realize you could easily walk from the Swan/Dolphin. Good to know. I wasn't actually planning on walking from CBR anywhere I was just wondering how accurate the map looked. Thanks again for all the repsonses.

It's an easy walk from MGM to S/D where Fantasia mini-golf is. Even after a long day in the parks and walking to MGM from the Boardwalk, the walk back wasn't any problem - 20 minutes would be on the long side, but then I do alot of walking so I usually walk at a brisk pace. We beat the boats every time. :goodvibes

Now these are the type of directions that I give:) I love them and thanks as it will help me next August.

Just so everybody knows - walking from MGM to Swan and Dolphin on the normal path by the canal, then back to Fantasia, is the long way around.

The directions I gave above are the direct route, and will take about half the time.

Of course, if you want to take the boat from MGM to Swan and Dolphin, then walk to Fantasia, you will cut your walking distance some, but your total travel time will nearly double, even if there is a boat loading at the MGM dock the moment you get there.
