Walking Distance to Universal: Holiday Inn & Suites vs. DoubleTree

We are interested in staying at either the Holiday Inn & Suites or the DoubleTree in April for our first Universal trip. Both state that they are "across the street" from Universal. I know that they are not as close as it sounds, but how long of a walk are they really? We are two (relatively) able-bodied 30-somethings and won't be traveling with any elderly, disabled, or kids so that's not an issue. We may try the shuttle in the morning but I know you have to book ahead of time and the times aren't great, etc., so I'd like the option of walking. Is it doable? Which hotel is further away? Thank you!

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn before with some friends who booked there.

Our room was nice and clean, it was also quiet. Be sure to specify non-smoking, as this hotel offers smoking floors as well. It is a newer hotel, rooms do not feel dated at all. Fairly spacious too, for being a sub $100 rate. We were lucky and our room face universal, so we could see it lit up at night, which was an added bonus.

It was literally STRAIT across from the main gate, the double tree is off to the side a tad bit (not really much more, honestly)

The double tree does charge for parking, the Holiday inn provides free parking.

From the hotel door to CityWalk (entrance to Universal) it took us about around 7 to 10 minutes walking. I would think the Double tree would be about 1 or 2 minutes longer.

I would personally go with the Holiday Inn.

Holiday inn is cheaper therefor better imo. Both same distance Double tree charges for parking (they say they don't own the lot?) They also have a resort fee so add $20 on top of whatever price you see. Walking time is leisure 15minutes to city place.
