Walking distance from Kidani to Jambo = 0.35 mi.

After you go past the Kidani bus stop....you walk along Kidani and the parking lot....it brings you to Jambo house by where the Magical Express bus stop is there.

If you are leaving Jambo house to go to Kidani, you cross over past the ME bus stop and there is a sign with wheelchair to the right (it's a ramp) or you go down the stairs for Pedestrians.

Personally, I'm excited that it's such a short walk. One reason I wanted to drive instead of flying was so we could drive over to Jambo :rotfl:(walking long distances with a 4 year old can be a pain). We booked a flight anyway, so this news is great. If DD gets tired, I've carried her much farther before.:goodvibes

Regarding the path - I tried to find it the other day but it wasn't readily apparent to me where it was. Bill mentioned going down some stairs. Are these stairs before you get to the bus stops or do you walk through the bus stops to get to it? I have a feeling in December, I will be using this path a lot as I go back and forth to Mara.

The steps we went down were outside, just immediately prior to the bus stops. I think they're used by the valets as the steps go down to the valet parking lot.

There is also an outside elevator near the main entrance that goes between that level and the parking garage which is on ground level. You could take that elevator then exit the garage and follow the sidewalks from there.

We did not go past the bus stops to see if you could get there that way, but it's probably possible. The 3 bus stops go downhill slightly, eventually getting down to the 'ground' level.

If you walk past the bus stops and just keep going, the walkway will join the path that goes along the outside of the parking garage. So you can either go down the steps just before the bus stop and walk along the parking garage the entire way or stay on the upper level, walk past the bus stops and just stay on that path as it gradually descends to ground level and merges with the walkway in front of the parking garage.

Thanks to everyone for all of the info on the walkway. DW and I both love to walk and now there is at least a path that we can walk on. Prior to this, there was no place to walk at AKV.

I agree. That was the one thing we didn't like about AKL, there was no way to take a walk after dinner. Now you can at least walk between the buildings and extend the walk a bit by taking a detour over to the tennis court and BBQ area along the way.

On Sunday I took the bus with my parents and DH walked with DS. The bus pulled out as soon as we got on and the walkers arrived 2 min after us. Very short walk.

Good to know its such a short walk. I get enough exercise in the parks that I'm not worried about 1/3 of a mile.

We were just there a week ago and it's not that long of a walk. Something to point out though for those who may not want to do it is that every bus leaving Kidani (EXCEPT the Downtown Disney bus) goes to Jambo before hitting the parks. If you want a fast ride over there you can just hop on the very first park bus that arrives (a 3-5 min wait in my experience) and it will take you right to Jambo. Then you can eat and enjoy a nice stroll back to Kidani to help work off the massive amounts of amazing food you just ate at Boma or Jiko!

When you leave Kidani from the main lobby, you walk toward the bus stop, but at that point need to go down some steps to get to 'ground level'. (The lobby at Kidani is actually on the 2nd floor, with the ground floor being the parking area.)

Then it's basically flat until you get close to Jambo House where you either take some steps going up, or you can go up a ramp. We went up the ramp when we measured the distance.

So it's not wheelchair accessible? That is surprising.

I didn't get a chance to do the walk. I wish there was a running trail.

One thing we noticed when walking from Jambo to Kidani is that the pathway leads you directly into the garage area under the lobby. The outside stairs that would clearly take you up to the lobby before you get into the garage is marked "Cast Members only."

Once in the garage, the sign to the elevator points back the way you came. While that will work, if you keep moving forward, the elevator directly to the lobby is just a few step further. Better signage is definitely needed. -- Suzanne

The Kidani side has several elevator options which we used, including one out by the bus stop - my mother was along in a wheelchair. And at Jambo it's a ramp. We took the bus over to Kidani from Jambo but decided it would be easier and quicker to skip the loading/unloading/tie-down etc. of the bus and walk back. While we were at Kidani I had to run back over to Jambo so I had tried the walk back and realized it wasn't that far.

There are a few options:

1. If you walk past the Kidani bus stops and just keep going, the walkway slopes down and joins the path that goes past the under-building parking.

2. There is an outdoor elevator just to the right of the main entrance that takes you down to ground level. This elevator may be for valet use only so you would have to check on that.

3. Follow the south wing hallway until you come to a parking lot elevator. They have Lion King character names (the "Zazu" elevator is the one closest to the end of the south wing but you will pass another one along the way whose name I can't remember). The "South" elevator does not go down to the parking lot so ignore that one and keep going until you come to an elevator with a Lion King name. It will be marked as a parking lot elevator. Take that down to the parking lot. Follow the walkway outside and turn left to head to Kidani.
