Alrighy my DBF and I are a little less than 2 weeks away from our Magical Cali vacation and just 15 days away from our arrival at DL!:cool1:

We decdied to stay at the Hojo and I was just wondering about how long the walk is...do you have any tips for us at all?

I looked on the map and it seems like it might be a longer walk than I thought but maybe I'm just unsure of where the enterance is...Do we need to walk in through DTD?

Thanks for all your help!:cheer2:

No, you don't have to walk through DTD. The walk is simple and takes less than 10 minutes. Once you come out of the parking lot, cross the street at Manchester and you'll be in front of MiMi's at the corner. Then cross Harbor at Manchester so you will be on the West side of Harbor. You can cut through the taxi drop off area and you'll be right where the employee shuttles drop off employees and then through security and into the esplanade. Clear as mud, right?

I know Bumbershoot has a pictoral post for these instructions. Hopefully she'll come along with a link for you.

OOooh ok thanks for the heads up. I mean I knew it was close but then I was looking on the map and was like...wait a hot second...that's a LONG walk to DTD;)

I am a visual person so it really helped to do a google map (satellite view) of the area so I could understand what everyone meant when discussing the HoJo shortcut through the taxi area. Just put in 1380 South Harbor Blvd, Anaheim, CA

I tried to include a link but it didn't work

Have fun!!

Just a little note from my recent experience...we (2 adult women) stayed at Hojo's 1/24-1/26. The walk wasn't bad but we did NOT like walking back to the hotel at night on the Disneyland side of Harbor. We were the only ones and it was uncomfortable to us. There was a homeless man sleeping in the bushes and it just didn't feel very safe late at night. The crowds were light coming out of the park at closing on those dates, so with more people I'm sure it would be different. We preferred to stay on the hotel side of the street after our first try. Since there were no crowds, there was no advantage to walking on the other side anyway.

Part of this is due to the location of the regular bus stop on the Disneyland side. There were some interesting folks there when we went by in the morning on the ART. The driver told me stories about some of the locals. They may be colorful and harmless, but after dark alone with my kids I wasn't willing to chance it.

The HoJo's side of the road has extra wide sidewalks, is well lighted, and has numerous businesses.

This time we're going to walk to and ride the ART from...mainly because this time we'll eat somewhere on Disney instead of stopping at Mimi's or McDonalds.

I also don't like to walk on the Disneyland side after dark. To me the few steps saved aren't worth it and we had to literally step over somebody on that side one evening. By the time I saw what was up, it was too late and too far to cross and there was a lot of traffic.

I don't typically have any qualms about staying on Harbor and walkin back at night. But its a big city with typical big city issues and its best to be safe after dark. In the mornings, we always walked on that side with never a problem.
