Hi All -
I'm hoping you can help me with this bit of planning...

We're staying at the BWV and although I understand that it's a very short distance to the International Gateway, I'm unclear as to how long of a walk it is to Future World. If we are trying to get to the Epcot gate for opening, don't we have to enter in Future World? Is walking the best option, and if so, any guesstimates on how long it would take?

Thank you!

It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from Boardwalk to futureworld. You enter through a small entrance with hardly any crowd- you would stand in line longer to have your bags checked in the main entranced than the time it takes to cross the bridge and enter through World Showcase and because the showcase isn't even open yet, there is nothing to do but head towards futureworld. Have a great trip!

Right. The IG entrance is open even though World Showcase is not open to visitors yet. One you enter, he area heading toward France is roped off -- you just turn the other way toward the UK and you can walk to Future World from there. It's a nice walk and kind of neat to see it so empty in the morning.

There will be a second rope between World Showcase and Future World which is dropped at the same time as the one at the main entrance.

I never realized this. On our trips in '03 and '05 we used the IG every time we entered Epcot and never encountered that. Maybe we never got our bag checked by official opening time. We always arrived at IG early but I always managed to pick the longest bag check line :rotfl:

On reflection, I think you're right and I'm wrong. I believe that the second rope is to stop people entering World Showcase before 11 am.

I believe there is a second rope that drops at the same time as the one at the entrance but maybe someone can confirm. I'm wondering which is quicker to get to Soaring right after opening... the main entrance rope or the rope from future world?

Sorry if I am OT.

There are different versions of the rope drop, and sometimes there is none. We just returned Saturday and on Tuesday (EMH) there was no rope drop at IG. Turnstiles opened at 8:00 AM and the race was on. A sure disadvantage for Epcot resort guests. On Thursday the turnstiles opened at 8:50 AM and the rope drop (9:00 AM) was at the top of the bridge from UK over to France. We've been a few times when the rope drop was in Future World past the rose garden, just outside the exit for Ice station cool, or whatever it' called now. :listen:
