Ok, I'm going to start doing the 3 miles per day 3x a week.

I'm so happy I read the post about the Dis members frend who lost a lot of weight just by walking the 3 miles a day but i think she did 7 days .

Hopefully I will be able to graduate to the Club2 3miles a day 5x a week and finally onto club3 3 miles a day 7 days a week.

Not sure if anyone else is interested so I dont want to post the other clubs. If other are interested then someone can start a post called

Walking Club2 3miles 5x week
Walking Club3 3miles 7x week

We can post in our club group how we are doing or tips, vents ideas

I'm excited to start this week:goodvibes

I'll be 39 next month
5'6
210.5

my 1st goal it to hit 200lbs

I read an article that its recommended to use a good pair of walking shoes not jogging or running but WALKING shoes. Anyone know of a good budget shoe I can buy at Khols ,JcPenny or sears?

Main focus for me will be to walk . I will add more veggies and follow a low carb menu but I'm not going to be so strict. Eventually the goal will to follow healthy eating but 1st thing is first walking 3 miles 3x a week:goodvibes

Next thing...i dusted off my sansa MP3 player that I only used 2-3 times and I need to find some good tunes

I'm in. I walk Sashi, the husky, a LOT! Currently at 569.67 miles this year. My goal is 900. But, my weight is not budging. Gotta get it OFF!!

Welcome!
Have you tried adjusting your speed or using ankle weights?
I read somewhere 3 miles in 1hour not sure if this makes a difference but anyone know whats a good time for completing 3 miles???

Hi! I'd love to join . . .

I'm 37 and I've been walking since January, but until this morning I typically walk 1 1/2 -2 miles. I have a *hard* time keeping myslef motivated. Hopefully being held accountable will help with that!

I have Achilles tendinitis and my podiatrist recommended Avia shoes for walking. I found a pair at Academy for around $35 which I thought was a great deal!

I'm in! Last week, I also (re)started Weight Watchers last week. I've had a roller coaster ride with weight ever since high school, and currently need to lose about 135 lbs.

Regarding the MP3's, I love 80's songs for moving. I've created a playlist on my iPod of all 80's (and some of my favs from earlier) songs.

When I walk on the track near-by, I complete 4 laps = one mile in about 20 minutes, so I'm hoping to do the 3 miles in an hour.

I get bouts of plantar fasciitis and pain in both knees, so I may need to slow that down at first, but I'm IN!

Maybe this is just the push I need. I work at a school, so I have the next 2 months off. Once I go back to work, walking on the track has to wait until 3 PM (even though I'm home earlier than that, the track is only available after the middle school lets out). We also have an eliptical, so I can use that if it's too hot in the afternoons.

I'm in :yay:.

I'm pretty much doing this already - I do the Couch25K three days a week, and walk 3 miles on the other four days.

My three miles usually take about 55 minutes.

Not sure how motivated I will be when the weather gets warmer and more humid, though.

I am currently on Weight Watchers (for the millionth time :)) but am determined to make it stick this time. I am also participating over on the Wish Biggest Loser Summer Challenge thread.

I don't know if I will every be one of those people who love to exercise - right now it seems like torture.

My JCPenney has a wall of athletic shoes that are clearly marked: Walking, Running, Hiking, etc. I was there recently to get running shoes for the days I do the C25K. I think it is important to try on a few pairs and see what works for you. (FTR - my running sneakers are New Balance and my walking sneakers are RYKA).

Welcome! $35 is a perfect amount. I have a jcpenny coupon for $15 off I got for my b-day and being a gold card member so I'll have to see what shoes they have.

Having a group of friends on the same exercise plan will help keep us motivated. If anyone needs to PM me for motivation, venting or anything about this club feel free...I'm here for ya!

I think the different clubs will be good because as we move on we will have different needs, motivation and others doing the same goals will be more helpful :goodvibes

Hello. Most of my weight issues started after I had my daughter, c-section, another surgery and death int he family . I'm a stress eater but didnt realize it back then. I've gained 55 lbs more then I want but since high school I had always been way to thin and total gained since then has been 90 lbs but weighing 155 is a good healthy weight for me.

MP3 player ...I need to figure out how to upload songs and how to work it. My dd12 showed me how to turn it on and switch to radio mode-lol!

May I join?? I have gained over 60 lbs and it seems like it happened so fast I never saw it coming. I wish I could say I had fun gaining the weight but I didn't. Like a lot of people I'm a stress eater and I work shifts (one week days 9x5 the next week 5x1) I have 4 boy (11,9 7,7) so I never get sleep and I'm exhausted and ashamed of my self for getting myself in this sorry state. But I decided enough is enough to do something about it. A big part of the problem is always putting eveyone else's needs first and there is never anytime for my needs. So I'm going to try and put me first ~ I won't do anyone any good if I get sick, right?? Thanks for the great idea, Maureen

Hi! I have four kids myself and they're pretty close to your kids ages. Mine are 12, almost 10, 6, and 4. I totally "get" what you are saying. I recently heard a tv mom say "I feel like a loaf of bread. Everyone takes a slice of me and all that's left are the old crusts!"

Yes, join us:cool1::cool1: I'm at the same stage you are. I've put everyone else first and in the process neglected myself. I'll be hitting 40 next year and I'm so scared. I hear after 40 the weight is even harder to lose and I have pcos so its a double whamy for me. If we stick together and work together we will have a better chance at completing out goal:thumbsup2

Hi there! I'd love to join this group if ok with everyone. Need to lose some weight, just like everyone else. Would love to lose 20lbs before my cruise in November. :rotfl:

Ok, I would like to join. I feel motivated! I walked 2 1/2 miles tonight in one hour. Hope to keep it up.

I'm in. I was doing 'Walk it Out' for the Wii for a good long while, but now that school's out for summer and I'm working full time again, I've lost my motivation. I'm on my feet the whole shift so by the time I get home, I'm flat out exhausted. I'd like to lose weight, but I've noticed I'm just happier when I'm walking or swimming regularly; I'd like to feel like that again.

I might be younger but I'm joining too! I always complain about my weight (gained 5 pounds these last two weeks) and I'm determined to be healthier. I'm also going to try eating every few hours, smaller portions. I know gaining 5 lbs might not sound like that much but I'm only 5' and (almost :)) 1", so you can really see it on me.

Hi everyone! I'd like to join in for some motivation--and hopefully motivate some one along the way, too.

I walked 3 miles today in 50 mins. Map My Walk has a great website and iphone app. that used today. Check it out.

I lost 25 lbs. last year with WW but have gained 20 of it back.:headache: I am not even going to attempt WW again (which works great for me) until I get this old body moving some more. Good luck every one. Glad to be here!

Thanks for starting this thread! I was reading the thread C.Ann started on the CB and it was interesting timing. Just last week I had decided that just MAYBE if I walk 2 or 3 miles every day I would see some improvement in how my clothes fit.

Three days prior to her thread, I had started out at 1 mile/day and I was consistent with it; my goal was to build the habit. Today, though, I decided to just push though and do 3! Personally, I know that I tend to hit a wall within the first two miles and that I have to push through to find my rhythm.

Yes, there are half marathon signatures in my signature! I trained and completed two Disney half marathons in 2010. However, knowing that I couldn't afford financially to do another one in the near future, I stopped training! I pretty much just came home from Disneyland and stopped walking altogether. :confused3 :rotfl: I didn't have a concrete goal to work towards.

Well, my current goal is to just build a habit. Slow and steady wins! That turtle is my hero!

I did my 3 miles today in 53:52. The most important part of that sentence for me is the "I did my 3 miles today" part. :thumbsup2

While I was walking, I was thinking that there are 31 days in July and if I walk 3 miles every day, I will have walked 93 miles in one month! That's almost 100! (Not to mention that is 31 hours that I will NOT be sitting on my behind surfing the DIS! :surfweb:) Just sayin...:rolleyes1

Thanks for posting about Map my walk. I will have to check it out.
I also walked my 3 miles but it took me a lil longer. My heel has been bothering me and I even went for accupunture today. It was a lil sore when I started but got better as I went on so hopefully it helps. I did go a lil slower because I didnt want to over do it. It took me 1hr an 5 mins @2.8speed and I even did an extra 5 min cool down. What got me to do my time and miles was everyone that has joined today. Thanks everyone just the motivation I';ve needed:dance3: lol!

I;m also glad C.Ann shared this infor with us because it was perfect timing...Thank you C.Ann:goodvibes!

Before you know it you will be back in shape and ready to do another marathon. Hopefully $$ will be better so you can go back to wdw.

Funny thing is I was also walking and counting the days/miles until July 31-lol! Hopefully for my B-day next month I will be thinner so I can wear something cute!:cool1:

Lucky you to go on a cruise in Nov. Wheres your cruise to?
I've been on 1 cruise and the food was sooo yummy but I didnt gain weight because we did sooooo much walking-lol! I cant wait to go on another one.

I'm not kidding when I walk on the treadmill I always visualize myself all dressed up in a black dress going to the Elegant night looking so pretty. The catch is I dont like dressing up and I only wear Jeans in real life but some day I will go on another cruise and dress up and feel good about it:rotfl2:

Yup visualizing me in different scenes helps the time go by fast-lol!

Ok, I would like to join. I feel motivated! I walked 2 1/2 miles tonight in one hour. Hope to keep it up.
