Walking apps

Hi guys,


Just a quick question..... I would like to use one of those apps on my iPhone that tracks how far you walk in a day but I am guessing that this will involve GPS or somat and so would cost a fortune? Am I right? Or is there a way round this?

Hi i was thinking about doing this round the parks on my iphone useing an app caled "speedometer" it records miles walked and a map of the walk.

The problems are:
A) eats the battery fast as its useing data and location services all the time
B) it needs a constant data conection

I know lasy year when we was in Epcot we had internet useing the parks wifi and its now in all the parks but the problem will be when your on the move your phone is going to be switching from one hub the another and might crash the app.

The other option is to buy a data sim card (if your phone is unlocked) ATT and T-mobile are the best looking mobile plans at the moment.

Dont want to go into the goods and bads about the 2 networks as you can find lots of chats ongoing about the two!!

The other way would be down load google earth and use the meshure featcher and draw lines of your walk (takes time)

You can get pedometers for a couple of quid.

Sounds like a cheaper option - although less high tech.

I used a pedometer on my recent trip and got up to well over 20,000 steps on park days (10+ miles) and thought that was amazing.....until my DD pointed out that I had it on when riding things like BTMRR, Space, Dinosaur etc.etc.... ....so just remember to make a note of the numbers before/after rides if you decide to go that route.
