Ok, guys, this has probably been asked 1000's of times before, but I couldn't find it on the boards...Has anyone had problems using 2-way radios (walkie talkies) while in the parks? Ours has a 10 mile radius, and tends to pick up Nextel conversations at times  The last time we were there, my sister and her hubby were unable to use their Nextel phones in 2-way mode. When we go, we all tend to pair up and scatter, so the radios would be nice!

Thanks!

We just got back from WDW a few weeks ago and we used our two way radios. We have the 2 mile ones with sub channels. We had to switch channels a few times but as long as your not having a long conversation they worked good. We used them to say meet us here, how long is the wait, etc. They didn't work as good in the buildings. Sometimes when we heard the call button ring we had to go outside to talk. They worked for us.

have a great trip!!

Personally, we use our digital phones, but I have stood next to some individuals trying to communicate with a walkie talkie.

The line was cluttered with all sorts of individuals cutting each other off, talking over each other and holding their transmit buttons in when they were saying nothing.

I would say it depends on the day and number of guest using them. Realize there are only a few channels these devices are licensed to utilize and if x families are using the same channel... :crowded:

Sorry, but they did not work for us at all. The channels were much too busy, we heard chatter from a (what seemed like) a million people. Also, there were teens playing on them that would talk constantly, and they weren't always saying "kid friendly" things.... :confused3

But, this was several years ago, maybe most of the people use their cell phones now, so maybe the air isn't as crowded.

we tried last year, ahd to keep changing channels, and kept talking to someone elses hunny bear or eeyore, or goofy dad.... :rotfl2:

We've used ours a couple of times, and they worked OK as long as you are in the same park. You need to get those with sub-channels though. Otherwise, there are way to may people on one channel.

The last couple of times we went we've used our Sprint phones, which work very well.
