Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

In Denver awaiting a big silver bird to take me to where the weather suits my clothes, YEAH!!!!!!

See you kiddies there.

Robert - The Today Show was showing weather reports from Truckee this morning. Yikes! Stay safe and warm. Hopefully, this latest storm won't affect your travel plans.

Scott H - looks like you're getting out at a good time - ahead of the storm.

Stacey - hopefully you'll be able to get out on Wednesday as well.

Maria and Michelle - last January was my first half and my first event ever. I wanted to do this before I turned the fabulous 50. Now that I'm that magic number, I'm doing the full. See what you've got to look forward to? :teeth:

Eva and Michelle - :welcome:

As for tapering, I've been a little excessive in this area. Doing too much, that is. I had planned on walking Thursday night at the gym but as I was getting ready to leave, I discovered that my 2-yr old cat, Boo Boo, had died. :sad1: He was laying on the garage floor close to the opened back door leading out to my fenced-in backyard. We're really not sure what happened. To make a long story short, we think he might have escaped out of our yard, got hit by a car, and managed to get back into the garage somehow. Needless to say, I was heartbroken that night and yesterday. I just didn't feel like doing anything. My heart is still heavy today but I do feel better and I'm going to do the 6-miler that I had planned. I'm glad that's all I have to do. ;)

Hope everyone has a good final "LR" this weekend. Hope everyone makes it to Orlando OK, safe and sound. And, yes, I'd like to meet the walkers a little early as well. It looks like me friend, Cindy, will be out of the run so I'm glad I can hook up with some of you guys for the full.

See you on Friday!

oH, Everybody is packing, or packed and you are all fixing to head out and go play! Me and Bill will miss all ...uhm, most of you! :lmao:

But we will be right here :bored: sending lots and lots of pixie dust :tink: to all the WiSHERS and cheering you on!! :cheer2:

I am being buried by a blizzard with another wave of 2-3 feet coming in a few hrs and continuing into tomorrow night. Nearby Reno is an ice field after 2 inches of rain in 24 hrs(over 1/4 of a years total) before turning to snow which added 12-16 inches of snow on top of that. Also nearby Fernley had a levy break(4:30am today) flooding 400 home and evacuating 4000 people with 3 ft deep water. The water that is washing into driveways freezing solid. Flooding is even expanding as I sit and watch the news.

I want warm :beach:

I just hope to get out of here on Weds as they cancelled 40 flights yesterday and expect more today and tomorrow!

Susie: So sorry to hear about your kittie. I know ours are like our children and when one passed a couple of years ago, it was very tough to deal with.

Susie, :grouphug: , our love and thoughts your way.

Connie:sad1: we will miss you this trip.

Bill, I'll see you at the Tower of Terror week.

Everyone please make the trip safely, none of you wonderful people are replaceable, each and everyone of you make our team the wonderful place it is.

Special thoughts for Robert, Linda and Stacey who are in the path of the raging winter storms.

Traveling Panda:hippie:

This stupid snow storm has knocked out our power:mad: I am on battery and my air card(dsl down):( I can't even watch the football game. Thank goodness for headlamps that allow me to type:) I have a feeling we won't have power until we go to bed. Another 4 hrs!

Just called the power company and they said trees downed on power lines from snow. Hope to have power by midnight:scared1: I guess this means an early night as my laptop battery is getting low:sad1:

It's starting to get cold without the heat:( It's going to be a long night.

Hi Robert,
we are in Orange County, we got 2-3 inches of rain last night, lots of wind but we are okay. The earlier predictions were to be far more. Some of my friends live in the canyons that were affected by the fires we had in Oct, those areas had to be evacuated due to mudslide threats. It is about 3 miles from us.

stay warm and hopefully they will get power to you soon!:wave2:

 Oh, wow! I hope your power has been restored by now and that you and Linda are okay. WHat a storm!!!

Bahamamomma1 - glad you are okay. :goodvibes My heart goes out to those families evacuated due to mud slide threats or floods. California sure has been hit hard lately. :sad2:

I am guessing you are now in a real mess Robert....Roads closed several feet of snow.....No power....Good luck. Hopefully you can escape and get a little Magic in your world soon!

Oh wow!!!! I hope everyone is okay. When things get busy with the kids and such, I sometimes don't get to see how things are anywhere else. I forget that not everyone thinks 65 is freezing.

I hope everyone who's coming makes it down here safely, and those of you staying put remain safe, too.

Hey everyone!!!!! Robert, Linda stay safe. I hope you can get out on Wed, that has also been our fear, we are flying out of Buffalo and they always seem to get alot of snow also. Really want to be at the house of the mouse now. Few more sleeps and we will be there!!!!!!

I am at the point now I just wanna get the 1/2 done, not dreading or looking forward to it just want my medal!!!!!

Off to start packing. Have a great day everyone!!!

Kim

Susie---So sorry to hear about your cat. :grouphug: to you.

Robert & Linda--- I hope your power is back home and that you are safe and warm.

Bahamamomma1--- Glad you are safe.

I did my 6 miler yesterday on the rail trail. It was sunny and in the 40's perfect for walking. Kim I am with you I just want this over.

My family has now stated that I am moody and being a b**ch. Here I thought I was doing fine and to me I am no worse than when I have other big events coming up. I used to run hockey tournments for years and was always a wild women for the final 2 weeks before the tournment. Compared to that I am being much nicer.

It looks like our weather is going to be warmer so Friday looks like we should have no problems flying out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Heading out to breakfast have a great day everyone.

Nancy

Robert and Linda: Stay safe and warm. Hopefully your power will be back on soon.

Kim: keeping my fingers crossed you will have no weather issues to interfere with your flight.

Nancy: I am amazingly calm. Other than the fact that I'm not resting too well because I'm "too excited to sleep", I feel fine. I posted on another thread that I have started to view the marathon as my final victory lap and it really makes a difference. Other than 2-3 minutes on a podium, I get to relish the glory for close to a full 7 hours! Now how's that for putting a positive spin on a painful experience? Just call me Pollyana.....

Hey Pollyanna, aka Jeanne, I do the same thing. Sure makes it easier to accomplish when you view it as a fait accompli!

Hello walkers! I'm new to the site but have been voraciously reading (and posting a little) about the upcoming events. I'm doing the half and hope to either walk it or maybe w/r. I was wondering if you could tell me how you plan to approach the distance. I had been training really well this summer, then broke a toe. :( I also had a thyroid problem they had trouble regulating after radiation, so I'm no feeling perfectly trained at all!! :scared:

Will any of you be walking the entire half? If so, what pace do you plan to go? How about w/r? Will you be doing intervals and if so, what ration? I know, this is a lot of questions, but I'm SO NERVOUS. Is anyone scared of being swept?

I plant to be at POP on Friday with my hubby to meet you and really look forward to that. I'm so very happy to have found you all. You have been a God-send to help me look forward to this trip again after being plagued only by fear and dread. Thanks!!
Lara
