Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Hi, Everyone!

Is anyone making cookies or candy for Christmas? I am really trying to resist the urge!

Sorry about DH's back I hope he gets some relief soon.

As far as holiday "baking" this year I'm making something different to give out to co-workers. Home made Bailey's Irish Cream. It's to die for.

HeavyCream
1/2 & 1/2 Cream
Condensed Milk
Eggs
Chocolate syrup
coconut flavor
Whiskey.

Blend then freeze for 1-2 weeks to "ferment". Serve a bit over ice or mixed with milk or cream. Better be in your jammies when having some cause you won't be doing much walking after!

I agree with Beth, Jean don't do it. we only have a month before marathon weekend, let your body rest, you will know when you are ready to get back out there. Now not that I am a expert or anything like that, but I do firmly believe you listen to your body or it will turn on ya and we don't want that:hug:

Guys thanks for helping me tell Jeanne not to over due. Remember that for 2 weeks I did basicly nothing but crosstraining while I had foot pain. I also was just very tired and guess what when you get really worn down something usually lets you know. With me it was my foot. Well after those 2 weeks of rest I feel great. Erica and I did 35 good miles, all quicker than sweeper pace a 5 miler, a 20 miler and a 10 miler. My foot and everything else feels super. It usually happens when you start back after a good rest you come back stronger than before.

We are sad about the trip being over, we wanna go back.

We have 4 weeks till the big show, the secret to success is to be on the starting line rested and healthy. We will try for a final 20 miler next week but if the weather gets in the way we will still be in good shape as long as we don't get silly and overdue during this last month.

Another thing that is very important for all of us to remember, it's called long SLOW distance for a reason. When you race your training there is nothing left for racing. I'm bad about trying to PR on a training route. Training is the time to build not tear down.

Jeanne I'm in the same corrals that Erica is in. We do our races together.

Thanks, guys, for all your input. I may be stubborn, but I'm not stupid. Looks like I'll just be doing a 10-12 miler this weekend.

Dave: glad to hear that your foot is feeling better and that you're in the same corral as me, Nancy and Pat. I feel like you and Erica are our "big buddies".

Denise: You ARE bringing some of that good stuff to the marathon, right!
A little sip of that and I will definitely be feeling no pain. Let the men have their beers and save the good stuff for all the princesses!

Jeanne, pretty princess, after the Marathon there is going to be a WISH gathering at Pleasure Island, I hear there are some nice places to by your princess a drink.

I'm glad we are in the same corral, Erica wants to go to the front of the corral so we have extra seconds for picture and potty stops. Women!

Jeanne-- I would probably do just 8 miles which is what it calls for this weekend. Gosh I am like a naggy women since I was one of the first two people she mentioned who told her not to do it. Sorry but the plan is for you to carry me to the finish line since this was your idea to begin with. :rotfl2:

Dave---Welcome back to you and Erica. Nice that you will be in the same corral as me and Jeanne.

Hi Kim :wave2:

Denise--- I agree with Jeanne you should bring some of that good stuff for us Princesses.

The sun actually made an appearance today and went to 54 degrees, but till I get home it is nearly dark so not able to walk outside. I did 3.5 miles on TM yesterday. Not sure what I am doing tonight.

Have a great evening everyone.

Hi, guys! Hubby finally started physical therapy, yesterday. The PT told him all the same things I have been telling him for months, but of course, I am just his wife and therefore I didn't know what I was talking about....or something. :confused3 Anyway, he is doing his exercises and working at doing this...so far!

I am doing cross-training. Pilates and resistance tubing. LOL At least now, hubby don't make fun of me when I do it!

Just 4 weeks for you guys doing the goofy! How exciting! Can we see the races on the computer? Track your progress or something??

So glad it just isn't my DH who thinks I don't know what I'm talking about. :rotfl2: I hope the PT helps him.

I love Pilates class and miss that I haven't been able to work that into my cross training schedule. Once this marathon is over, I am so getting back to do classes at the gym that I like. I don't know the answer to the question about tracing our progress.

Didn't do any walking yesterday but cross trained by doing leaves. I hope that is the last of them. Since it snowed so early the last of the leaves couldn't be cleaned up, but snow melted and the ground was covered with leaves. My choice would have been just let the next snowfall which is going to be today cover them up again. However, DH wasn't going for that idea so spent the evening helping him with the leaves.

Dave--- I'm with Erica get a little extra cushion to get some of those pictures and you know it takes us longer for those pottie breaks.

It is to be a wintery mix today, I would rather just have the snow than sleet, freezing rain and then snow. Suppose to have a big snow storm this weekend. I worry more about that closer to the weekend since the weatherman can't even seem to say for sure what is happening today let along 3 days from now. DH says the weatherman is the only person he know that can be wrong all the time and still keep his job.

Happy 22 years for my pretty princesses and I today.:dance3:

After the good miles we put in at the Smokies we just rested yesterday and today I just played in the pool. Walking will resume tomorrow.

Connie I hope your hubby gets better and he becomes your walking partner. Having your life partner as your race buddy is the best.

Here is a christmas story for you:

A man in Newfoundland calls his son in Calgary two days before Christmas and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the father says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Vancouver and tell her."

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone.
"No way they're getting divorced!" she shouts, "I'll take care of this."

She calls Newfoundland immediately and screams at her father, "You are not getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there by tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing. DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. "Okay," he says, "they're coming for Christmas and paying their own way."

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Anniversary to you and Erica. party:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DAVE AND ERICA!!!!!:cheer2:

SNOWING HERE AGAIN!!! I can't belive it. Mike and I have decided that we won't be doing another 1/2 or marathon during the winter, just way to hard to train with our weather, we aren't getting in any milage and I just can be on the TM for more then 30 mins I get to bored. I was hoping to do the 1/2 in 2 hours and 45 min, now I am just hoping I can finish.

OK, I am finished whining now. On the bright side I am going to disney soon.;)

Kim

Yes, it’s snowing like crazy here and we’ll probably get another 10 inches on Sunday. Our hopes of 8 miles this weekend are being covered with white powder. I will do the TM but not like it at all. I may spring for a PPV movie so I can get through it!

Congrats Dave and Erica. We’ll toast the happy couple and YOU finishing the Goofy while in WDW. We may have to crawl to the Boardwalk Bakery and toast with coffee to do it!

denise

Congrats Dave & Erica. How did she put up with your for that long:confused3

I see the white death that hit us last week is finally hitting the East Coast. Be careful out there.

Did a 1/2 mile of drowning and 12 min of water biking. Still nothing planned until the Goofy.

At least a month from now the Goofy will be over. The partying really begins:rolleyes1

Gosh, I forgot it is one month till the marathon.

We are to have a big snow storm over the weekend so not sure when I will get my 8 miles in as I have to go to the gym to use a TM.

It is raining right now, not sure if they are still calling for snow later tonight.

Kim--- I don't know which is worse trying to train and dealing with cold and snow or doing summer training in all the heat and humdity. I guess there is just no perfect season to train for a marathon. Which is why I won't be doing another full marathon.

Have a good evening everyone.

Happy Anniversary to Erica and Dave (the lady is definitely a saint!)

Nancy, you were right about the 8-miler this weekend. I don't know where I got the idea it was longer. Tee times don't start until 9:00 am right now, so if we leave at 7am, we can do the 6 mile golf course before the rangers come and kick us off. We like doing that because it goes by so fast. Then we just need to go the 2 miles to the bagel store and we're done! :thumbsup2

Kim, so sorry about the white stuff. We were 79 degrees today....3rd day in a row that we broke a record. It sure doesn't feel like Christmas but it makes it easy to train.

Happy Anniversary to Erica and Dave (the lady is definitely a saint!)

Erica and I had been friends for about a year while I was waiting for my divorce from my first wife to come through, Ky required a year wait after filing before it was final. At the end of the year when I returned to Okinawa after signing the final papers, we went out for the first time.

I took her to a lighthouse sitting on a high cliff. It was very sureal with the big light going in the night, the sky filled with stars, the storm waves crashing on the rocks below. We went to the edge of the cliff and I throwed my old wedding ring off the chiff to the waves far below. Leaving my old life behind and going forward to my new one with her.

Ok moving right along. I'm headed off to the mall for some good miles before the stores open. It's 34 with rain this morning so I don't wanna go out in that. I wanna go to DisneyWorld.

Have a great morning y'all.

Training Panda:hippie:

I wish I was going to Disney World, too! :guilty: But alas, I am not. I am however, saving and plotting for the trip we plan to take with the grandchildren!! Yea!

It is cold and it is foggy and we are under a heavy snowstorm warning. I am not sure what a HEAVY snowstorm warning is.....here in the Panhandle it could mean 1 inch or it could mean a full blown blizzard, but either way it means the roads will be treacherous! So, the stepper will be the fitness tool of the day. I could go to the mall like Dave, but it is 100 miles away. I guess I won't be doing that.:sad2:

Connie--- Your mall is 100 miles away, gosh I grew up in upstate rural PA but we had a mall within 60 miles. Not having a Mall wouldn't bother me, but I would need to have Kohl's near me. If I can't find what I want at Kohl's it isn't happening. My only other thing that I have to have is Chico jeans they cost a fortune, but they are the best fitting jeans that I have found for those of us with large lower bodies. Plus there sizes start at 0 so I wear a size 1.5 jeans. So I am like one of those Hollywood stars that only wear a size 2.

Jeanne-- I am so jealous of your warm weather. I have been in a depressed state since leaving sunny Florida a week ago. I think the sun has been out for 1 hr in the last week and even that I only saw as it was setting when I was leaving work.

Dave--Gosh who would have know how romantic you are? Hope you had a good walk at the mall. You could even pick up some gifts while you are there.

Time to get busy at work.

Nancy

I have accused of being an incureable romantic more than once.

I had a nice 3 mile brisk walk at the mall. With the heavy miles early this week at Gatlinburg I didn't want to overdue.

Wow connie you do live in the sticks. I didn't think it was possible to live in the lower 48 states and be 100 miles from a mall.

Have a super day y'all.

Romantic Panda:hippie:

We live only about 30 miles from a mall. The only problem, it is on the other side of a 9000 ft mountain. Don't get over it that often in Winter.

Dave: I have heard that you are "incureable" of other things:sad2: Good job on your 3 miler. Only thing you can do is injure yourself this late in the game.

Good training for everyone this weekend. White Death is coming all next week. That means wait a week and all you East Coasters will be seeing it again.
