Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

I guess I am #1000:cool1:

PT is tough with "foam rolls" which feel like concrete. Swimming like a rock. Soon to be 4 weeks sitting on the sidelines but as long as I am healthy come WDW Marathon Weekend. I wll survive:sad2: I have lots of work to do.

I am allowed 2 miles on Sat & Sun if doesn't hurt. Of course both are only allowed at "Gradma Pace".

Less than 7 weeks to WDW:banana:

Bill: Hope your back is better. Hope my PM helped.

Kim: I think they are called Shepards pies :thumbsup2

I have heard of Shepards pie, but I think that is different that what Denise is talking about.

Well I have a sore lower back just over my left butt cheek. I must have smarted off to my pretty princess and she stomped on me. I don't remember doing it but you never can tell.

I decided not to do the Turkey Trot since I was hurting. So I'm enjoying 3 advil and working the soreness out with a stick. I'm sure there are a few WISHers who would enjoy taking a stick to me.

Happy halloween everyone.

between packing, and turkey I will try to take a picture of my pie(s) and post.

Dave- Halloween, you need less drugs!

Have a great day.

No drugs, just naturally nutty. Does that make me organic?

Life is to short to follow the beaten path.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

It was 62 degrees when I started my LW this morning at 7:15am and went to 72 degrees by the time I finished. Did 16.5 miles, the 16 miles took me 4 hrs and 8 minutes and the extra half is walking from my car to the mile marker and back. For the first 8 miles I maintained a 15/mile pace, but on the return trip made a pit stop and also bought additional water and went a little slower so that accounted for some of the extra time. I was able to do it on the rail trail but with so many leaves you really had to watch your step in certain places. At mile 14 I wished I had brought more Advil with me as my legs were really aching by then. This is the longest distance I have walked ever and when this is all over I am never walking that far again at one time. So only 2 more long walks the 18 and 20 miler. I doubt that I will have as nice weather in Dec when doing those distances. So glad that it is finished but don't think I will have much energy left for the rest of the day.
I work tomorrow so not Black Friday shopping for me.

Robert, Dave and Bill-- Pixie dust to both of you. pixiedust:

Denise--- Have a wonderful trip to WDW.

Kim--- I guess you are one of the few people that have to work today since your Thanksgiving was in Oct.

Going to add my miles to the 1000 mile challenge.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Nancy

Wow Nancy, you was rocking on, 16.5 miles. I agree December will be interesting. We are taking a trip to Gattlinburg to train on the hills and do one of our 22 milers. Then we can relax and enjoy the sights.

Erica and I both work tomorrow also. We don't need to shop for each other since our 11 days at Disney is January is our present to each other.

Thanks for the Pixie Dust, it worked I feel better.

I'll be thinking of you all next week, no laptop so I'll post on Monday December 3.

Take care all, happy training.

Dave--- Glad you are feeling better. Taking a vacation to train on hills, not what I would want to do. I hope once you get that 22 miler done that you have energy to do other things.

My legs were really tired yesterday after doing that walk and my Left heel is till bothering me this morning. Did some of my PF exercises so will see if that helps. I am also going to buy another new pair of sneakers. I don't think my current pair will last until the marathon, so I can start to break in a new pair and then can use them for the marathon. I certainly have gone through alot of sneakers this past year.

Back to work today.

Nancy

Nancy

Thanks Nancy but it's still an issue. When I massage it the pain goes away for a while then after sleeping it's sore again when I wake up. I just went to the Gym and used the hot tub jets to work on it. I'm going to baby this till it stops hurting completely. I can't afford an injury right now. So maybe tomorrow I can get back to training.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Sore Panda:hippie:

Ok where the heck is everyone? I'm feeling very tender here, all alone, hurt, (well pain in the butt is hurt right).

I'm still taking it easy, the glute pain is still there and a small touch of soreness in my left foot but I feel better today. I'm going to take it easy today and then maybe some light walking tomorrow and by monday I hope to be back it strong.

The evil pretty princess Erica, has a 9 miler on tap for monday and an 18 miler on tuesday. Right now at 7am it's 25 degrees so I hope that gets better by monday. Long walks at below freezing are not my idea of a good time. 18 miles on a treadmill would be a torture for me, talk about the BMZ.

Hows everyone else doing?

Sore Panda:hippie:

9 degrees here. also have a pain, and hope it warms up I would like to shoot for 5 miles today.

Just a quick post by me. I got up early and did 4.53 miles on TM. I realize it was only 20 degrees compared to some of your temperatures, but I am a whimp about cold so did my miles inside instead.

Now must get busy. Putting away the fall decorations and getting out some of the Christmas.

Nancy

From the balmy Lake Tahoe where it is 11 degrees. High of 38. Hurting here too but will try a very slow 2 miler later this afternoon when it gets above freezing. First time in almost 4 weeks. I have to tape both shins but...

Hope all of that are ailing are resting and getting better. Better to rest than overtarin and cause more problems later. We have lots of time to get ready:rolleyes:

Played in the pool doing laps and underwater biking(so to speak) for 30 min yesterday.

I felt better today Robert. I will do some easy walking tomorrow also. I don't really know what I did to cause this butt pain but I'm glad it's about over. Now if we can just get you healed up.. we have beer laps to do in 6 weeks.:)

How is everyone today? Anyone heard from our dear friend Connie?

Kim I hope we get in stockyard C with you.

Have a restful nite y'all.

Resting Panda:hippie:

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Eight of our guests went home yesterday so right now only my four kids are still here. Two go back today and the other 2 tomorrow. We had a really, really wonderful time but I am exhausted. It's difficult to have 14 people under the same roof in really close quarters and not have any flare-ups, but everything went well. I have one sister that helps alot and another that thinks she is at a resort, but I kept thinking that at our age I'm not really sure how many more years we will all be together and so I just let alot slide. We ended up having a very good time and had lots of laughs so it was all worth it.
Scheduling my 18 miler was not a very smart thing, but tried very hard to pull it off. Somehow, I knew my heart was not in it. I was doing 5 mile loops and when I got to the 10 mile mark, my knee was hurting and I was hungry and thisty and starting to feel lightheaded. We still had one outside guest at home and I didn't want to be gone another 2 hours, so I just quit. This is getting harder and harder to do and I am starting to feel like my body is breaking down on me. Of course I have been cleaning, shopping and cooking nonstop for the last week and had not slept in a bed for the last 4 days. I never had knee pain before and was afraid of getting injured. Part of me is very disappointed I didn't finish, but the other part tells me I made the right choice. I tweaked my training so that I would be 2 weeks ahead of schedule so I do have a cushion. Next weekend I have a half-marathon and then the following weekend, I will try to do 18 again. I think I am getting sloppy. I go out too fast and don't have enough water or food. Right now I just want this to be over. Encouragement desperately needed!

Nancy: great job on the 16 miles! Next time I get one of these crazy ideas just kick me. After this is over we will definitely celebrate.......if I'm still alive.

Dave: hope your butt pain is getting better.

Jeanne is back:dance3:

We missed you and your wonderful, mischivious, witty personality. Glad you had a super visit with your family.

Don't feel to down, sometimes you feel the love sometimes you don't. But princess you said something in your post that made a lot of sense. We never know how much time we have left, so we need to make the most of it.

We want to enjoy our aging and not fear it. We are athletes and we earn extra good years.

You and John worked hard to have a good retirement, now you have to work hard staying healthy so you can get the most out of it. You put your money in the bank and now you are putting the extra years in the bank. Rest when you need to, but don't loose sight of why you are really doing it.

We are born with a magic body that will last a long long time and work wonderfully if we maintain it properly, that means proper rest, proper food and proper exercise.

Ok Jeanne, you have had your pep talk, now get that pretty smile back on your face and get back to your job of teasing the guys. Nancy and Denise have been holding that fort down all by themselves.

Obi-Wan Panda:hippie:

Did a very slow 2.1 miler yesterday. Shins still tight and sore. Iced yesterday and used stick and ice massage this morning. Did some light upper body band workout. Will get on bike at halftime for 4 miles. Resting today.

Jeanne: Do you pack gels/bars with you on your LW's? I always pack either a Clif Bar or Clif Protein Bar with me. I like to eat 1/2 every hr to keep my energy level up so don't get the highs and lows that causes crashes. You should try this before you do this for races. I ate a mini Clif Protein Bar 5 miles into ToT 13K. It is important to stay hydrated with either water or Electrolyte drink. If only water, better take a suppliment to keep electrolyte levels high. Even in cold weather.

Dave: Glad you are getting out today. Good luck!

Connie: Are you out there....
