Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Hey there, yup just a bit crazy but I knew my August would be, but I am so happy that they are coming I haven't seen my sister in almost 20 years!!!!

I just got back from my 5K took us 45 min which is exactly a 9minK which is a slower pace but ok, since we haven't walked in almost a week.....eeeekkkkk.

Off to do my crunches and pushups!!!

Have a great night all.

Kim

Quick Drive by. My cold is getting better so did 4 miles on TM and then pump class. Now off to make dinner.

Good morning Walkers.

I did 4 miles this morning on my regular hill route. I managed a 13 mpm pace but the effort felt much harder than that. I guess I was still tired from the race on Saturday.

Have a great day y'all.

Nancy glad to hear you are starting to feel better.

Dave WTG on your 4M today!!!

Kim--- How nice you get to see your sister after all these years. Did you get to see the Stanley Cup yesterday? Since the Maple Leafs are so terrible in hockey, other than seeing it in the Hockey Hall of Fame it will probably be years till the Maple Leafs actually see the Cup. I was in Tampa at a conference the night the Lightening won the cup a couple of years ago. It was very exciting as all the NHL officials including the Stanley Cup were in the same hotel along with the Calgary players. My son's played hockey for years including college for DS#2 so hockey has been big in our lives. I brought everyone home Stanely Cup Champion shirts for everyone.

Denise, Mr. DB and Dave--- Good job on your walks.

My cold is better. Yesterday did 4 miles on TM and stretch class. Tonight will be another 4miles and pump again. I wish my body looked liked someone who worked out this much.

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Yes, the Stanley cup came through the town I work in yesterday, Brad May is from this town so he was holding it in the back of a Vette....very nice.

True, the last time the Leafs won the cup I was 1....lol I love the Leafs but I cheer for Calgary....I have a chance there to maybe see a cup someday....:confused3

My daughter played hockey for years, boys rep for many years which we loved but then she decided she needed a social life....at the rink 5 or 6 days a week kinks they socializing time....:lmao:

How is everyone???? nancy glad to hear your cold is better.....

Nancy, glad your cold is better, summer colds are yucky. Erica said last night that her throat was sore and her nose was running. I hope she shakes it off. I very rarely get sick, a cold once every year or two.

Look at it this way Darlin, outside beauty can be created by hard work but if your not beautiful inside no amount of training will change that. Not being one of the beautiful people I take comfort in having a warm heart.

I walked 4 miles this morning then played in the pool. I forgot my watch so I just walked by how I felt, what an enjoyable way to walk, I have to do that more.

Good morning Kim.

Tonight did 4 miles on elipical and the killer pump class. I'm sure in the morning I am going to have some sore spots.

Nancy

Finally went for a walk last night only 3 miles as Mark's knee was bothering him. That was a bit upsetting because I had not walked for 2 nights - commitments - and knew I'd be off on Saturday so I need to get my training in. We did manage to at least do most of it in a powerwalk mode as he was feeling better after a short time.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm tonight is usually date night but I have a feeling that other factors will not make that possible so I may have some time on the ellip while he attends to his stuff.

Hoping for a long walk on Sunday. We really need to start doing that hopefully for sure NEXT weekend.

Have a good one, I'll be away all day Saturday will check in when I can.

Kim, I see by your ticker you are closing in on that first half marathon. How are you feeling about it? Excited? Nervous? You've probably talked about it in your other posts, but I'm terrible at keeping up -- and at keeping everyone's races straight in my mind. I'll go check the WISH calendar so I'll at least know which race you're doing.

My first half for this summer/fall is coming up in about 2 weeks -- the RnR Half at Va Beach. I dread the heat, but since I'm also doing the Philly Half this year, I'll get a special medal from Elite racing. Hopefully that'll make that queasy feeling on race day worth it. (I do not tolerate heat very well.) I'm all about the bling!

Good luck as the day grows closer. I'll bet you're going to have a blast!

Wendy, I did both races last year and got the 'Beach to Bell' medal and it's awesome! You will love it! My dh actually got me a commertive plaque with all three medals, my name and times for both races for Christmas. It is truely special. Good luck.....I will be in VA beach doing the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon and not looking forward to the heat either. I won't be doing the Philly run since my marathon is on September 30th.

Beth

Denise--- At least you got in 3 miles which is better than 0 miles.

Wendy & Beth--- I didn't realize that the RnR in Va Beach was that close. I hope it cools down for your race and no hurricane this year.

Dave must be sleeping in no post from him yet.

Nancy

Good morning guys.

I have been without cable internet since yesterday and just got it back, so you guys got a break from my rambelling. Nancy thank you for noticing, that made my day.:cloud9:

I went for a warm 4.5 mile walk up to the top of the Western Ky University campus. They are famous for their hill, hense the name 'Hilltoppers'. Total time was 58:40 for the walk.

Everyone have an awesome day and thanks for being here. The morning check-ins help me stay focused.

Was it Comcast or Charter that was down? (I'm just a wee bit south of you outside of Knoxville).

Dave--- I can imagine that you were lost without internet yesterday.

My geography is so bad I forgot that TN is below KY. The one thing geography wise, I know about KY is that it is connected to Ohio and when I was in Cinninnati for a conference, we had to go to KY to get good ice cream. :rotfl2:

Yep, Ky is like one of those states that is kinda between others. The Tenn Hill-Billies even call us Red Necks.

Dirty Bunny, I'm not sure what kind of service it is, I have Broadband Cable if that helps.

Did another 5k on the TM today. Clocked in at roughly 47:30 with an average of 15:37. I was taking it easy after my last 5k where I got some seriously painful (and somewhat bloody) chub rub. Picked up some BodyGlide and slapped that on before my run and lo and behold it made a big difference. The only problem was that I also found out I have another spot to apply it to next time but hey you live and you learn.

I'm heading off for the treadmill myself. I like doing intervals on the treadmill because I can force myself to go faster for short distance. The music videos on the TVs are fun. I like the Country Music Channel and the VH1.

Have a good weekend y'all, walk strong.

Hello, everyone.

I am new to WISH and have spent the last several hours reading all of the posts in this thread and thoroughly enjoying it!

You all seem to know one another (or at least quite a lot of about one another), so I thought I'd introduce myself. In September, 2003, my BF Steffwalks (who introduced me to this site) and I decided it was time to lose weight and get into shape. Between us, we lost 120 pounds over the next 13 months! To celebrate, we spent a week in WDW and then took a 4-day Bahamas cruise! Last year we started competing in events in an effort to stay motivated and on-task. This year we are celebrating 3 years of having kept our weight off by doing the 13k at ToT!

I am a little concerned about being ready for ToT as I have had some medical issues over the last couple of months and had major surgery on August 2. I am able now to start walking again, but I'm pretty darned slow, even by my standards which were pretty slow to begin with! But I think I was in pretty good shape before the surgery and hope to be recovered and well enough to spend a couple days behaving like a child in WDW and then doing the ToT! :jumping3: I am hoping that posting here will help me get going. After reading all your posts, I am anxious to really get going!

Once I start back to work after Labor Day, I don't know how good I'll be about posting as having to earn a living sure cuts into play time! But I'll do my best!

Thanks for the thread. Even though none of you know me or knew I would be reading your entries, I already feel encouraged!

Kathy

Hey, Kathy, what part of CO are you in? Just wondering! I hope your training goes well!
