I am checking into buying a Rollator for my 82-year-old Mom. I have checked some sites on the internet, and since I amnot familiar with any of them, it makes me hesitant to order and provide a credit card. Anyone have recommendations as to someone they may have dealt with before or who to definitely stay away from. We are looking at the Invacare Stingray, if that helps any. Thanks for any assistance with this. I am heading into foregn territory.

We hope to take this with us on the cruise in January. Anyone used one or been with womeone that used these on the cruise?

I don't have any first hand advice for you, just a suggestion to find out the physical (snail mail) address of the places you are considering. Then you can check out the companies with the Better Business Bureau for that area.
You might also want to check out Wheelchair weblogger , a site I found recently. They might have some info on finding reputable sources of equipment since it was set up by a woman who was concerned about people getting ripped off on wheelchair repairs. Even if you aren't buying a wheelchair, some of the companies would be the same.

Mom is 82 and has Medicare, correct? Medicare will pay for a walker with wheels OR a wheelchair if MD writes an Rx. I always tell pt to have Medicare pick up the cost of the wheelchair and purchase their own walker. www.invacare.com has a dealer locator. Has mom used or tried out the 4 wheeled walkers that you are talking about? If not I suggest you go to a Medical supply store near you to try one out first. Some people love them, some are very leary of the 4 wheels and the brakes. The one you have chosen is an excellent, top end 4 wheeled walker. Check with the med. supply person to see if medicare will cover this model. I am not sure they will. Standard 2 wheel walkers usually cost $80 -100 retail. There are a number of "rollator" type walkers available, some come with all the bells and whistles, others are basic models. Of course the price elevates with the number of accessories.
Btw the Disney ship is huge, but accessible. I rented a wheelchair when we did the cruise, my ambulation is very limited) it was less than $40.
BTW2 ;), You may want to try Northcoast medical supply, they are a reputable supplier.
Hope this helps, Joan

wondering if you are familiar with or have had any dealings with Citywheelchairs.com. They are offering the model I am looking for at a really good price with free shipping. Since I have no knowledge of these people, I hate to hand over a credit card number, etc.

thanks for your above reply. I appreciate the information.
