My Mom was debating renting a scooter this year for our trip or buying one of those "rollaters" I think people call them. The walkers with the wheels and small chair to sit on. She can walk long distances, her issue is standing still in one place for a long time affects her knees.

How would this work with rides? Would she have to leave it with the strollers or is she able to take it up to the ride with her? I know many rides let out in a separate area (rockin roller coaster for example). Thanks much in advance!

you can take it with you in lines some lines like RNR you have to use a wheel chair that they will have there are close by to use on the ride

Rollators are treated the same as wheelchairs at attractions.
Basically, she will be able to take it into all attractions and the CM will handle it or tell her what to do. You will see lots of people using them.

I took my rollator Walker through every line except the fast pass line at Jungle Cruise where I parked it because it was easier than waiting for the handicap loading area. I believe in haunted mansion they took us out to the exit area from the stretch room and we loaded in a different area from the crowded masses. I liked that a lot as I have trouble when the line goes to single file from the mass exodus from the stretch room. I liked having the rollator in the parks. Only time it really was a bit annoying was in areas of highly textured ground where it was quite bumpy.

You can get a rollator that doubles a a wheelchair (generally there's a warning like, "do not move rollator while seated.")

Thank you all for your answers, sorry for taking so long to respond, got pretty busy :)

She will be happy with this news!

If she buys a rollator I would highly recommend the Drive Nitro.
https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Medical-Nitro-Rollator-Walker/dp/B009SOC9PI

It folds up easier, has larger wheels so works better on uneven, the brake lines are enclosed so don't catch on things, and it is much more comfortable to sit on than the regular ones. It costs more, but is so worth it.

Thanks for this suggestion, this is the one my Mom decided to purchase and she has liked it so far just testing it out. She's a lot more excited for this trip now knowing she won't be in as much pain in her knees!
