Walked out of Rango

yeah I don't know why people are saying "DUH it's rated PG" there are TONS of movies that are rated PG that are fine for kids.

so uh yeah I can see why people would be confused about the PG rating since there isn't really a rhyme or reason to it. so lets not treat the OP like a moron because it said PG ok :) :confused3

It's not that people don't 'get' the rating system per say, it is that the ratings system is a total joke.

This exactly.

Movies are rated by a selected group of people. It's left to their discretion of what's appropriate. There is no "standard".

There are PG and PG13 movies that are filled with violence, sex, and language that I do not find appropriate. Then there are movies that are rated R simply because a character is homosexual/transexual/etc. Gee, let me expose my kid to a constant stream of sex and violence, but her knowing anything about gender or sexual identity is completely crossing the line.

Hmm...We all saw it and liked it. It wasn't the absolute best thing I'd ever seen (the desert wandering part got a little boring), but it was okay- I LOLed a few times. I didn't find it inappropriate either, and I had my DCs (9 and 10) with.

Same here. Most of the "humor" went right over DD's head anyway. The man behind me laughed hysterically the whole time. I'm pretty sure he'd give it a :thumbsup2

I went last night at 9:30. The theater was about one-quarter full, with about two thirds of those being children. I actually fell out of my seat laughing twice, and I wasn't the only one. The children, mostly pre-adolescent, laughed riotously at the visual gags, and the adults were mostly like me.

I thought the visuals were amazing and the film as a whole refreshingly un-juvenile and inventive. Definitely towards the Tim Burton aesthetic.

I'm with you. I absolutely LOVED Rango. I fell in love with the animation style as well. Gore did a great job.

I don't have kids so I can't judge what is appropriate for anyone's child.

I was sooooo bored during this movie. We should NOT have taken the kid's to see it (did so on Opening Day) at the least. Some of the language was questionable for young kids "Send you back to hell", etc. I'm sure some will like it but it wasn't for our family.

The only reason my DD9 wants to see it is because of Johnny Depp. She LOVES him. She watches all the Tim Burton stuff...she liked Alice in Wonderland (I hated it)...I'm not sure why she loves him so much. I mean he's cute but...kind of dirty looking.

I am not seeing Rango because of the snake. I don't do snakes. DH will have to take her to this one.:scared1:

Every commercial I see for it ... it just seems odd! I think many people will go see if just because of the Johnny Depp voice.
