Oh my gosh....I haven't walked out of a movie since I was a teenager and went to see Hellboy II with a friend.

I had my 10 and 5 year old and after 45 minutes we couldn't take it any longer. It is not a movie for children, lots of awful visuals (weirdly drawn creatures with bulging eyes, roadkill animals that talk, guns, alcohol, borderline bad language).

I don't know what Rango is about, but I loved Hellboy II!

LOL, maybe it's not that movie then....it was in 1989 and the lead character had nails in his head....

Anyway, the movie was very "artsy" but IMO, inappropriate for children yet it's marketed on Nickelodeon. The main plot of the movie seems to revolve around impending death.

That's a shame. It was rated "PG – See Full Rating for rude humor, language, action and smoking." This sort of thing is why I love Kids in Mind, the descriptions are always dead-on and prevent wasted $.

Did you stop and ask for your money back? Every once in a while I end up walking out and the theaters around here have always given me a credit to come back when the content wasn't appropriate for my children.

Yeah Hellboy II came out in 2008, think you are thinking of Hellraiser..yeah now that one was wierd lol.

I've read (and heard) that it's inappropriate for kids, so we skipped it. :)

That's too bad. I thought it looked kind of cute.

On a side note I do not like science fiction or superhero movies or anything like that, usually, but I really like Hellboy II!

Next time i'll check out that website, thanks!

A dear friend of mine took her 8 and 10 yr old grandkids. The 10 yr old looked at her durning the movie and told her he didn't think it was for kids. I don't know why she didn't see the PG rating in the first place. The rating are there for a reason.

:confused3. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that this isn't suitable for a 5 & 10 yr old. Isn't the PG rating given for films that may not be right for under 13?

OH MY! DD's girl scout troop went to see the 2:00 show today! We opted not to go because DD wasn't really interested in it. The girls are all 10 and 11. I am really interested now to hear what they all have to say about it. And I am glad we didn't waste our money.

I let my kids see PG movies all the time. I really don't think Rango is a kid's movie, though.

LOTS of Disney movies are PG (incl Tangled), so I keep in mind what others say about it and reading reviews online.

PG is usually fine for kids. Parents have to make their own calls when it comes to movies.

Isn't that PG-13?

That's the one that Johnny Depp voices right? I'll skip it for sure. The only movie of his that I could even tolerate was Pirates of the Caribbean. His choices in movies do not appeal to me as a target audience. I don't even find him attractive - just greasy and odd. LOL

But thanks for the heads up. I've seen it advertised and thought they were targeting it towards families. It didn't appeal to my daugther though so it wasn't even on our radar. Friends were talking about it though so I'll let them know.

No! That's PG-13.

I should clarify that I thought the movie was awful, that's why I walked out. I'd have walked out even if I didn't have the kids and if it were DH and I.

Obviously I should have read the reviews closely but i've seen at least 5 PG movies recently with the kids that we enjoyed.

I've let my son see PG since he was about 5, I think. Or maybe I've never not let him? I can't think of one that we saw that wasn't ok with me.
