Walkable hotels to Citywalk UO

We have UOAPs and always stay on site on an almost monthly basis. We were looking into squeezing in a last minute weekend trip to UO next month but AP rates are high. Even Dockside/Surfside are around $209 per night and we’re used to paying under $200 for Sapphire Falls etc. Are there any offsite hotels that are walkable to UO? We won’t have a car and prefer to walk. Which one would be the shortest walk? Thanks!

I consider the hotels on Major Blvd. to be walkable to Citywalk. The Doubletree is the closest. I've stayed at that Doubletree a few times and always walked to Universal. However, that Doubletree seems to be over $200 per night for a July weekend too ($238 for the weekend of July 15). Maybe one of the hotels nearby would meet your needs.

Thank you! I looked on Priceline which we’ve never used before and I think it was a little less than $200 going through them. I’ll have to double check though. How long was the walk about? Also, you can go through valet security right and avoid the big security at the main hub?

I think the walk is about a mile or so to valet parking, where you go through security.

Fairfield, Comfort Suites, Residence Inn, Quality Inn and Hampton Inn on Major/Vineland/Kirkmann are all walkable to Universal. There are also a couple LYNX buses that go there. You have the time tables for LYNX so that makes it easy. Depending on where you are at LYNX 21 and LYNX 37/38 will stop at the Universal bus center.

Those hotels also have a free hotel shuttle (that only leaves maybe 2 times in the morning and comes back twice at night) but if you combine that with the cheap local LYNX bus plus waking option there are multiple times and choices.

Stayed at Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal in 2018. Once you cross the main road (was a crosswalk then, believe it is an elevated pedestrian bridge now), it's a nicely landscaped garden walk to the valet security entrance (no lines, no walk from the parking garages...). Also had a shuttle at that time; although there were limited times we made use of it several times, and other times we walked. It's a pleasant 10-15min walk. Dinner at CityWalk before heading back works wonders on tired footsies. It's a basic hotel but provides a close, safe room and that's all we really need on a UO trip.

Thank you all for your helpful responses! We literally just booked Hyatt Place across from UO for an upcoming weekend for only about $150. It was the cheapest of the very close offsite resorts for our weekend. We’ve always stayed in the ‘bubble’ but I have to say, we’re excited to try something new. It was also cheaper to use our AAA discount directly on their site than Priceline/Expedia rates. We’re used to walking long distances as we do at home for enjoyment/exercise but we figured if our feet fail us, we’ll Uber. Thanks all! Onto the next adventure! 😃

There is also a Walgreens within 5-10 minute walk of that area where you can pick up 2L soft drinks (around $2.88), contact solution, toothpaste, etc. with reasonable prices.

I am sorry if this thread is too old to comment on , but I have just been reading up on this topic and I did a googlemaps walk from Hyatt Place to Citywalk... Is it safe to say the walk takes about 30mins. thx!

I have made that walk several times (well to the Holiday Inn next door). Never felt unsafe, and yes, it can be about 30 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. I walk faster so it is less. It is a well used walkway, with sidewalks, a pedestrian crossing bridge over S Kirkman, and the entry is through the valet parking area which has a much easier security place.

Thx for your details.. how long does it take when walking leisurely and not in a rush…

You can check even cheaper hotels around international drive close to the Endless Summers, like the Monreale or even $50 hotels, that you can walk to the Endless Summer and take their buses and vice versa.
