Does anyone know if there is % of each restaurant that is intentionally left open for walk-ups? Just wondering? :confused3

We have been successful at a few places right when they open (Chefs de France and Capt Grill

If you do not want to make reservations I suggest calling the dining line every day and see what is open. That worked for us too....you never know what you will get!

It's been stated here before that Disney does not hold any tables back for day-of walkups. Some places may hold back a few tables for concierge bookings, I heard here on the DIS (not sure if that's true or not).

No, they don't set aside any tables for walk-ups. Many restaurants will just turn you away if they're fully booked for the rest of that meal, and most theme-park and character meals are fully booked every day. This can even happen with the resort restaurants. I called one Saturday evening around 4 for an ADR for that evening, and was told that every single TS restaurant in the MK and the monorail resorts was not taking ADRs or walk-ups for the rest of the night.

As the PP said, some people have success arriving right when the restaurant opens, but obviously that's only going to work for a handful of people at any given meal.

If you want to be sure of getting in to a TS restaurant, you need ADRs. If you're willing to be very flexible as to time and location, or would be happy with CS if you can't get into a TS place, then you'll be fine without them.

It never hurts to ask and be flexible. We were able to walk up to LTT during a MNSSHP and get seated. The earlier in the evening the better.

We also have just walked up to a few places and got seated.....last Nov/Dec we walked into Coral Reef at lunch time, and into the Captains Grill in the Yacht Club at dinner. I was just wondering if indeed there was some "secret" out there regarding walk ups....thanks to you all for satisfying my curiosity!:disrocks:

I think a lot of people book ADR's and either cancel some of them at the last minute or don't show up at all, leaving limited availability sometimes.

I've witnessed walk-ins at LeCellier and Coral Reef last year, and I know those 2 places fill rather quickly.

Both times, the walk-in's were right at opening for lunch.

walk ups are possible, but definitely not a slam dunk.Disney holds NO tables for walk ups.Any vacant tables are usually no -shows,cancellations,or simply the restaurant is not booked that night.

I didn't read all the previous posts, but: when we went in August, originally it was going to be my 2 kids and myself. Somewhere around May 2 friends decided to join us for a few days of our vacation. I already had all my ADRs made, and one was at LeCellier for lunch, which they wanted to try. I called LeCellier 4x in total (not consecutively, but hit or miss times) and was told each time that there was no room for 2 more people. However, on our Epcot day, strictly on a whim, I went into LeCellier and asked if we could get 2 more people at our table and voila!! We were accommodated. If phone calls don't work, sometimes going in person will. Good luck!:thumbsup2

I will tell you that we very often will call wdwdine and make a ressie just before we eat. Or go to guest relations and make something. We once tried to go to Capt Grille and they told us a 2 hour wait and the place looked dead, so we just decided to always call ahead and see what we could get within the next few min or so. Just a tip

If you're not heading to Fantasmic, we found that Hollywood and Vine was cleared out after everyone left for the show. We only had a 10 minute wait for a table. That was in Sept 2007

Last month during the 1st night of free dining my family and I were visiting the Polynesian and for fun because we wanted to see what the response would be we asked at Kona Cafe if there was a table for a party of 3 during dinner without an ADR. The Cast Member said there was but it would have been a 45 minute to an hour wait, so it just shows that even during a busy time for the restaurants walking in was still possible if you did not mind waiting. However I do agree it's still best to make any ADR's that you can.

I don't know if they hold tables for walk-ups because I almost always make ADRs, but here is my most recent experience as a walk-up:

We were staying club level at the YC in Feb 2006. I had not made an ADR for dinner the first night we were there, so in the middle of the afternoon, I went down to the concierge desk on the club level and asked if they could make an ADR for the Captain's Grille (then known as the Yacht Club Galley) for that night. I was told that no ADRs were available, but was encouraged to walk up and see if anything was open. Sure enough, we went down to the restaurant around 6:00 and the place was 1/2 empty. We got a table with no waiting and the restaurant did not fill up while we were there.

Thus, I don't know why there were no ADRs available, but I do know that the unavailability of ADRs does not mean that there will not be any tables available at the restaurant.

I wonder if they do not staff YC Galley/Capts Grille, heavilybecause we went there and they told us 2 hrs and it was half empty as well...

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, we decided we wanted to eat at Teppan Edo. I called from the hotel and they said they had no openings that night. While we were at Epoct, we decided just to stop by Teppan Edo and check and they had plenty of openings. Not sure if it was because of cancellations or just spaces left open.

On the flip side, when we were eating at Sci-Fi Diner, we had reservations at 11:30, while we where waiting I heard someone if they had any tables available and they told them to come back at 3:00 and check (so I know there was not spaces left open there).

Good luck!!

You got lucky at Captians Grill. We were there 2 weeks ago & when we left it was a 2 1/2 hr wait for people with no ress.

I think certain times of the year you will have better luck just walking in. I would think that during free dining, walking in would be a bit more difficult.
Also depends on how long you are willing to wait for a table.

You can also get last-minute reservations at guest services locations in the parks. I've been able to get an early lunch ADR (around 11:30) for Brown Derby literally ten minutes prior. This was the day after Memorial Day this year.

Walked into Tony's Town Square and got seated within 10 minutes. . .This August, during free dining. . .also walked into Spoodles and was seated in about 5 minutes during free dining. . .never hurts to ask. . .

it seems to me that it's possible to get into some of the restaurants at lunch time, especially if you show up just at opening time. I've seen this work at several of the restaurants in Epcot.

However it is much more difficult to get in without an ADR at dinner time.
