Honestly, I think that at least for dinner, your chances are slim to none.

We do really like Kona, and think you will be happy too. I absolutely loved the New York Strip. It byself, was much better than the meat at Ohana!

We enjoy the Tonga Toast at Kona too!

yes the tonga toast is why i made the adr's:cool1:,never been there or had the tonga toast so this will be awsome. I would still like to goto O'hannas for dinnier,oh well if it does not happen it does not happen no biggie. I will try to make adrs up un till the last night In WDW

Talk to the concierge @ the Poly on your arrival. They seem to be able to sometimes work some magic for Poly guests, plus you can probably be more flexible with dates since you're staying there.

I agree, talk to concierge daily if you have to. But up until your arrival, keep checking for ADR's online several times a day. Im very anal about that, I checked several times a day for the adr's i wanted and was always successful with even the most popular restaurants. Something always popped up. Even a week before my vacay! So dont give up. As a last resort, even after checking with concierge daily, I would try going to ohana right when they open and ask if they can accomodate you. Most restaurants are more flexible when you go the minute they open. Just so you know, I have had luck eating at many places as a "walk up" with no adr's: Teppan Edo, Raglan Road, Rose/Crown, TRex, Tony's (gross food at tony's btw). Good luck!

Went to WDW the first week in August with no ADRs and had success as a walk up with a family of 5 to several places in Epcot. Didn't try Ohanas though, but did go over to the Poly for drinks in the lounge at dinner time and it wasn't nearly as crowded in the restaurant as I had expected it would be. Can't hurt to ask, and if you go at odd hours, you often have more success. I believe Captain Cooks has the Tonga Toast so you could save yourself money and time and just get it there instead of at Kona.

I think this is going to be near impossible for you....even if you showed up for dinner at 4pm and stood in line, we witnessed alot of people doing that only to have the CM come up an hour later and tell everyone they were not talking walk ins that night

I really think it's sad that people pay all of this money to stay at a particular hotel (In this case the Poly) and are limited to certain restaurants in the hotel. Disney really needs to adjust their policies for resort guests who are staying at certain resorts. If you are paying 400 plus a night to stay at the poly then you should be able to eat at all of the restaurants at the resort.

Disney accepts ADR's for almost all restaurants 180 days out. Never had a problem getting anywhere we want. You may luck out with a walk in for breakfast if you're there when they open but probably not for dinner.

I was just there last week and after years of hearing raves about the Tonga Toast I had to eat there. I was seriously disappointed and not at all impressed with it. I actually ordered a different breakfast because it was just plain an boring, guess that's just me but the pineapple macadamia pancakes were to DIE FOR!

You can you just need to make reservation like the rest of the world. Disney wants full restaurants it could care less if is a Poly guest or an off site guest.

I believe you are there during free dining so I would guess the chances are slim to none. People do cancel so I would keep calling the dining line.

Sometimes they give you prefferential treatment if you are staying there, so it's worth a shot, but I wouldn't count on it for dinner.

Just for reference--they serve the same Tonga Toast downstairs at Captain Cook's for less expensive if you decide you love it but don't want to take the time for a TS breakfast one morning.

Yeah, but on the flip side if they held spots open for walk ups, just for people who are staying at the Poly, masses of people would whine and complain about how unfair that is. There is no way to make everyone happy. The current ADR system is the most fair system they have at the moment.

I can understand your frustration; however in all of my travels, a room reservation regardless of how long and how much it may cost never guarantees a table in a hotel restaurant.

I have been on cruises where if you wanted to dine in one of their restaurants other than the main restaurant you needed a reservation. I have been to all inclusive resorts where you needed to have a reservation for a restaurant and were not guaranteed acess to all of them at that resort. I have been to Hyatts, Hiltons, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and many other hotels and none guarantee a seat in their restaurants with a room reservation.

I may not be a person who looks at WDW though rose colored glasses and believes it's all pixie dust and magic, but I don't think there is anything Disney is doing wrong or different from anyone else out there and personally don't see this as a problem.

Keep Calling! People do cancel all the time. I would speak to conceirge or guest services on the day of check in too, maybe that will be your "magical moment":wizard: Also, not sure what your party size is, but in the past we have had large groups(16+) and when making a ressie, they would show no availability for that size, though breaking the group up(Ressie for 6, Ressie, for 5,etc) they would have availability. We never had a problem sitting all together! Good Luck!
