Can you still walk up and see if they have anyone who hasn't shown up and get in to eat someplace if you are a party of one,or two on the dinning plan?I know they've changed some things since we've used it before, and just wondering.

You can usually do a walk-up for a table service without a reservation, but there may be a significant wait. At super popular restaurants (like 'Ohana) or during popular times (Memorial to Labor Day), they may tell you that it's unlikely you'll be seated at all without a reservation.

There aren't many "tables for 2" at Disney. Most are for 4. So, it shouldn't matter if you're asking for 2 or 4 when you show up without a reservation.

You can try with any party - larger ones (generally the ones larger are harder for them to accommodate) or small - but it will always come down to whether people do not show up at a high enough rate that they feel safe not making those with ADRs wait when they do come. Its always up to the CM and certain restaurants are notorious for just saying no - every time I have dined at Le Cellier for example I watch the CMs turn party after party away. Its a little scary when people get worked up and yell at them! :scared1:

It also depends on busy the parks are or what time you want to eat. When we've done it, we didn't have our hearts set on particular places. When we were hungry, we went to a restaurant and asked. We usually go in Jan or Feb and we never had to wait longer than 5 or 10 min.

You can also call the WDW reservation number and see what is available the same day. If a spot opens up, they may know sooner thant the actual restaurant. Best of luck.

yes, but keep in mind that if you are going during a busy time of year, some places could be completely booked. Even during non-busy times, some very popular restaurants will put up a sign saying they are not taking walk ups.

One other note: You can check with Guest Services upon entering a park. They should have information on any availability within their park. I know that, at least in HS, there is a board past the main entry that shows what restaurants have openings that day.

That's a really great tip. Learn something new everyday on the DISboards. :)
