Walk up for Table service meals?

We're heading to Disney in 2 weeks and I'm not sure what to do. We are going to be there 6 night and have a tableservice meal for 4 of the nights. My hubby doesn't want to be tied down to a schedule everyday since this is a vacation. I've tried to explain we may not be able to eat where we want if we don't make a reservation.....at this point it may be too late to add anything on. Has anyone ever walked up to a resturant and got in without a reservation and if so which ones should we try this on!

when we were in Disney a few months ago ......everything was booked but just on a chance we walked to Le Cellier and SHOOT the couple in front of us got into le Cellier on a cancellation.......there is always a chance but you are going in a very busy time of the year......you can call each morning when you get up and see if there are any openings.......I would not say do you have a reservation at such and such a restaurant.....I would say......any openings in any restaurants in Epcot or MK or wherever yuou want to be.....We were only able to get one reservation at Crystal Palace before we left and when we arrived we were able to eat at Biergarten in Germany........Main thing is to go and have a great time.......it is a beautiful time to be there

not a good chance. IN FEBRUARY ,we had a reservation at 50's. It was kinda late, so we went there to see if there was an earlier reservation. There was none, and the hostess said it was all booked.

If your going before the week of Christmas you'll be fine.

This is the first time we ever got shut out of restaurants - the week of Thanksgiving. It was so crowded.

In January/February right before President's week, you can walk up to any restaurant without a reservation and get a table. So assuming that now up until the week of Christmas is off season, you'll be fine.

Except on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Don't forget the locals come to WDW just to dine. So those nights we needed to call for a reservation early that morning.

But I think you can totally play it day by day.

we were just there (nov. 5 to nov. 14)...
walk ups were much more difficult than in the past (i think because of the disney dining plan), but we did snag them in a way...
not exactly walkups....we came up, were given a reservation and told to come back in anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half..
we did this at the Brown Derby (lunch), Citricos (dinner), the Italian restaurant in Epcot (lunch), and Tokyo Dining (dinner)...

however, we weren't able to do this at any of the table service restaurants in the MK...in fact, we weren't able to get any table service spots in the MK for any of the days of our visit....also not at chef mickeys...

our reservation at 50's prime time was made the day before....(the one walk up we tried there was unsuccessful)...

by the way, we were NOT on the dining plan...

Not sure of the crowd levels in 2 weeks but we returned from a week in disney 11/14 and had great success. I did a mini trip report.

Some suggestions:

You'll have better luck if you eat "off hours". Everybody and their mother eats lunch between 11:30 & 1:00. Try and late brunch instead or an early dinner. One day we had a big breakfast and then an early dinner (4:30). It was cool because around 7:00 pm we treated ourselves to a huge dessert.

Check with disney dining before you leave the resort in the morning. The cm's were really helpful in trying to find TS when we wanted. You must be flexible though.

We had a lot of luck with resort restaurants. Once again be flexible. You may get a suggestion to eat at a resort restaurant you never would have thought to eat at. Give it a try.

This is a very busy time for DVC. I'd make ressies if you want to eat at a specific restaurant. If you don't mind CS....then you can take your chances.
