Sooo....has anyone had luck walking up to Ohana and getting in? We are thinking about going there the night we get in (around 8PM on a Sunday in October), but so far have had no luck getting an ADR (we decided on this night after our ADR window opened). Of course, I will keep trying to get one, but was curious if anyone has had luck getting in. We will be a party of 3. TIA!!

No luck during our first trip but since we were staying at the Poly I gave up on trying to eat at 'Ohana and opted for the same meal via room service.
Have you tried any of the reservation finders?

I forgot about those! I'll definitely have to try and use them

What reservation finders?
Touring Plans has one:

https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder

You have to sign up for an account but don't have to pay for it if you don't want to. We opted to purchase a membership since there are other services offered.

I've heard there are other on line reservation finders but don't recall the names of the sites. Googling is always your friend:).
I prefer to give my cell phone number over email since I see any info faster.
HTH.

And if you still don't have a reservation after using touring plans, you should be aware that MANY reservations are cancelled in the week before and week of, as people juggle their schedules. I've been able to pick up next day and same day reservations everywhere, including 'Ohana and BOG, by stalking the MDE app.

The difficulty I foresee here is the fireworks at MK. Anyone who has an ADR around 8:00 is hoping to be seated somewhat late and waiting to see the fireworks from the restaurant. That means fewer tables for anyone hoping for a walk-up. If you're going on the 7th, I see no chance whatsoever until after 9:00 since HEA is at 9:00. If it's one of the other Sundays in October, you have a better, but still slim chance, since MNSSHP fireworks isn't until 10:15, so 8:00 people would have a hard time pacing their meal to last over 2 hours.

If you arrive around 8:00, be prepared to wait at least an hour, if not turned away outright.

We're trying for the 21st so it would be the MNSSHP fireworks. We have no problem waiting. We'll just head to the bar LOL

We have had no luck walking up - but we did have luck getting an ADR very close to our date. Usually 1 to 2 months before but sometimes as close as 1 week before. I never did it with a reservation finder - just on my own.

On our last trip while checking in I saw a huge line of potential walkups. I started talking to the couple in front of me who said they were local. Well I had to know how they managed to know they were going to eat here so far (you know the 180 day thing) and they said they do the same day thing. They log in search for ADR's and found the one for that night just an hour before. The couple told me it was easy because so many people cancel at the last moment.

Check now a few times each week. You might get lucky.

Two weeks before your trip, really ramp up how much and often you check.

A lot of people hoard ADRs and cancel them close to the date that they actually need to be there.

Past two trips, I found everything I wanted this way. The TP reservation finder just made me want to pull my hair out in frustration.

There is always a chance you can get a walk up. There is a standby line next to the podium. In the past we did a standby once, there was a lot of drama that time. A group of 9 didn't show up for their reservation, so after about 45 mins of waiting for them, they were giving the space to people in the line waiting. Then those people showed up. The restaurant sat them instead, we waited for another hour and a half not even knowing if they would feed us all. Eventually they did serve our group (we were a group of various parties from the standby line, not a huge group of 8). We ended up waiting a very long time. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this method unless you were desperate and can tolerate disappointment. Have a backup plan just in case.

Every time we have made a reservation at Ohana we still end up waiting quite a long time for a table so I don’t know if you could get a walk up or if the wait would be worth it.

Keep looking for that ADR though, people change their plans often.

I wouldn't chance a walk up, that line is crazy and it being MNSSHP doesn't make the line any less there is still fireworks, I would keep trying right up to the day you want to go, you'll have more luck that way. Also around 8 ppl will prolong their meals to attempt being there for fireworks, we had a 945 ADR one yr it was nuts and I'll never ever do that again!!

We were just there for 5pm ressies and saw a few walk ups get seated. It's best to try very early (at opening) or late. We have gotten in a few years ago by being there early. Of course, no guarantees, so have plan B :)

It also depends on time of year in Oct it's pretty busy

So correct! That's why it doesn't bother me at all when some people say it's so bad they'll never go back!!! :D Very hard for us to get early dining ressies now - we're not 180 day people, usually don't get the few ressies we want until about 60 days.

Well...looks like someone sprinkled some pixie dust for us. I was able to get the exact date and time we wanted. The touring plans ressie finder came to our rescue.

This. Refresh, refresh, refresh. Especially when you get close to that 24 hour cancellation cutoff.

Obviously I'd try to get an ADR. But if you can't get one go ahead and try. And if you can't get in there is a nice place really close by.
