Since the movie opens Friday I'll give this thread new life.

I just watched Walk The Line tonight, we had a special advanced screening for a local company through 20th Century Fox. WOW. What a movie.

Very well done, Phoenix and Witherspoon deserve oscar nominations for their roles, both played their parts flawlessly. The soundtrack was rocking! The set design, the acting overall, the direction....excellent for a biopic. My only complaint is the story jumped over some areas I felt could have used more attention...don't know if I bought all of the holes in between the the developing relationship between Carter and Cash.

All in all I would say its 4 out of 5 :boat:

Check it out folks, its worth the 2.5 hours.

Cheers,
Jungle Josh

I soooo cannot wait to see this movie! :Pinkbounc
I grew up in awe of Johnny Cash and love Reese Witherspoon as an actress. I feel like I will enjoy it just like "Ray". I completely loved that movie and Jamie Foxx was the bomb. Anyway, thanks for the good word, I am for sure going to see it! :flower:

P.S. - Skip, was it really only 4 out of 5 stars? I mean...that is good, but not awesome, right?

I am SOOOO excited about this movie! We will probably go see it the day after T-giving. I can't wait! :)

I've been looking forward to this one since I heard about the casting.

One of my all time favorite movies is Coal Miner's Daughter and I'm thinking that Walk the Line will be even better. See you after the movie! :flower:

Saw it last night and was not disappointed in the least!

Juaquin Phoenix has Johnny Cash's maneurisms mastered - the way he holds his guitar and moves on the stage - he must have studied HOURS of footage. Reese Witherspoon is perfect for the roll of June and she also does a great job with the singing. I'm totally impressed with both of them!!!!!!!

I don't want to give anything away, but it's definately a LOVE story - he would have most likely ended up dead, had it not been for June's love and dedication.

Can't wait to hear what other's think...

I was so impressed by this movie. Wow, what a life and what a love he shared with June. My husband and I both walked out feeling really moved.

Great movie - Phoenix and Witherspoon are fantastic! I can't believe how well they sang!! Both had great vocal training.

Loved this movie too. I read an online article about an interview with Kathy Cash, Johnny's second daughter. She was disgusted with this film, because it portrays her Mom as a psycho (her words). I didn't get that at all. To me, she was just a frustrated SAHM.

I can't wait. I told my husband this is definitely our next "date."

Psycho=SAHM, I can relate! :rolleyes1

Excellent movie! I don't think Vivian was portrayed as a psycho, I think she was very paitient until Johnny tried to hang June's picture in his den ("They're pictures of my band :rotfl2: )

DH loves Johnny Cash and I was worried because it could have been a disaster if Phoenix and Witherspoon went over the top. Instead, it was a wonderful movie with an excellent soundtrack. If you have the chance, see it!

I'm so excited after reading this thread. DH and I are going to see the movie Friday, can't wait!

I saw it last Saturday and really don't understand why Cash's daughter didn't like the movie. Possibly because it brought back memories of a bad time in her childhood? I would say to see this movie even if you aren't a Johnny Cash fan. It is a good story even if it wasn't about someone that you know's life

Did anyone see the news item about the box office totals this weekend? HP took in about $100 million, about FIVE times what Walk the Line did. Seems like they might regret the opening date, since this should have been a blockbuster too.

Actually, I thought the actress playing Vivian did a good job. The scene where Johnny was trying to hang June's pictures really made you feel for her. Of course, who knows if that really happened?

I totally LOVED the movie - and wasn't a Johnny Cash fan before seeing it. It was superbly acted and the music was fantastic. I would reccommend it to anyone!
