So I am planning on doing the walk in Walt's footsteps on our upcoming trip (DH gave it to me for my bday). He will stay with DD2 and DD4 and just myself and DD6months (I will wear her in a front pack) will do the tour.

I have read this is not recommended for small children-any advice?

We did it in September with my (then) DD7. She was probably just old enough and she really didn't want to do it, though she appreciates it now (as much as an 8 yo can). She is pretty mature and well mannered but we were still nervous. And I could tell by the looks on others faces that they were nervous as well. Besides going on a couple of rides (we did Mr. Toad's, Peter Pan, and Lincoln) its very adult orientated. So I don't see any problem bringing kids (or a baby) but I wouldn't be shocked if people rolled their eyes or seemed a little annoyed if your baby was crying during the middle of an audio clip. Not saying that's the appropriate reaction but real.

Also, does the front sling have a rain canopy for when you cry to cover the baby?:goodvibes

Double check if they will charge for the infant. I know the VIP tours, infants count in the head count.

It was my understanding that this particular tour is not recommended for small children mostly because they would get bored. This wouldn't be an issue with a very young baby, so I can't see why you wouldn't be able to do it with her if DH can't take her.

I would have a back up option though, in case the baby is unsettled on the day. If she starts fussing or crying, you could just excuse yourself from the group until she is settled again (allowing everyone else to hear the guide/audio etc). However, I can't see it being much fun for anyone involved if there's lots of crying or it takes a long time to settle her.

If she's the type of baby who will most likely just sleep through the whole thing, no problems :thumbsup2

Great, thank you. I had just assumed that 3 and under would be free but not get lunch/pin. I have emailed to ask.

She is #3, she spends her life in that front pack at her sisters ballet, gymnastics etc. She is a very happy, chilled out baby. But we will be in a different timezone so she may need a feed, I could do that while we ride etc.

We did this tour last week. It was wonderful. Bear in mind there is a lot of walking/standing and some is in the full sun. Might be hot for a little one.

Could you expand on why not?

If you are having to feed the baby, or they become fussy, its going to be a very awkward situation. Its such a long tour (3.5 hours or maybe longer depending on group size) that I can't imagine going that long without incident (I'm a father of 3, so I know my youngest would have had issues with it). I just think its not a wise choice to take an infant on the tour.

As you said, you've read that small children are not recommended on this tour. I'd go with that. Personally, I'd be annoyed if a baby started crying while the guide is speaking, or during the important moments of the tour. You should find a way to take this tour without the baby.

I'm sorry OP but I tend to agree with the above. Its not recommended for small kids, so I would expect that the other folks on the tour are not going to be happy about a baby being there. I'm all for baby wearing under normal circumstances but this is an expensive tour (I'm assuming). You also dont want to chance missing anything yourself while you tend to your little one. We all know that even the best planned schedules can fly out the window with a baby! Especially a traveling baby! If it were me, and DH was already watching the other kids then I would try to leave the baby with him.

My DH and I did this tour about a month ago. We left our 4 children (ages 17 months - 8 years) with my brother and SIL. If your baby was still in the sleep all the time newborn phase, I would think it would be fine, but at 6 months, they are more active and vocal and alert. I would think it would be hard for you to focus and it would interrupt others as well. Everyone has a headset to hear what the tour guide is saying and to hear a lot of audio clips of Walt and other people. Some of those are awfully hard to hear in a normal tour even without a baby. I think it would be hard with a baby. It really is a long tour, and it wouldn't be super easy to meet baby's needs in such a small group situation. Even with my easiest going child, I think it would have been a challenge because it is so long and such a small group. I think kids are pretty welcome most places at DL, but when I paid so much money for the tour, if there was a baby along that was making it hard to hear, I would be bothered. And I feel like I am pretty understanding with 4 young kids. I will be curious what you find out from Disney about having to pay, etc. Keep us posted. If you do take baby along, best of luck! It is a good tour and i agree with PP that tears will be coming!
