We will be visiting DL for the first time this Summer, I can't believe it's taken me so long to get there. :scared1:

Anyway, DD10 and DS7 want to take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour. We've taken different tours at WDW and they have enjoyed them, but the info says not recommended for small children.

They are both very well behaved and loves Disney, Disney Park trivia and secrets. I'm hoping someone who has been on this can tell me their opinion of taking them on the tour. I'm not worried about them being on their best behavior, I just don't know if it's too "above" their heads for them to enjoy.

Thanks so much.

We were just on this tour on the Ladies Trip. It was a good tour. I'm not sure if I would suggest it for young children though. I think my 13-year-old would like most of it, but would probably be ready to ditch me about half-way through. I really enjoyed the tour though :thumbsup2

I think they advise that the tour is not for younger children because it's very historical in nature. They explain Walt's design for the park and tell a lot of stories about Walt and Disneyland. While the tour itself is interesting, it's designed more for adults and even teenagers with interest in Walt Disney and his original park. I know that some of the WDW tours feature character appearances, but this one does not.

Now, that said, it's a great tour and I think it's perfectly designed for anyone new to Disneyland, especially a WDW veteran because you get to see just how deeply involved Walt Disney was in the planning, creation, building and running of Disneyland until even after his death. Space Mountain was originally designed by John Hench for Tomorrowland under Walt's direction.

As to whether or not your kids would enjoy it, I think it depends on how much they respect and admire Walt because the tour is so focused on him.

I think part of the reason they suggest no young children is because it runs for 3 1/2 hrs, mostly standing & talking & looking at things. Very informative & you also wear headphones & listen to clips of Walt himself. You ride the Jungle Cruise & see the Tiki Room show, but the rest is walking & talking. I imagine even kids that like trivia & such would get bored before it was over.

i loved the tour... it's alot of walking..with breaks in between for rides or shows.. and then a boxed lunch of sandwiches and sodas..noone knows your children more than you...how do you think they would do?

also... it's on earphones.. they might be enthralled with that.:goodvibes

Thanks for everyones input, I really appreciate it.

I think the kiddos will be waiting a while to do this tour. What we're going to do is switch off, SO can go one day while the kids and I do fun stuff and then switch the next. That way we both still get to take the tour, I'm really excited about it.

Thanks again!!

If you want to know more about the tour....check out my trip report about it with pics!! Maybe that will help you decide.
