Walk from Epcot to MGM?

We are going to a dessert buffet for Illuminations at Epcot and the show is at 9:00. I see that there will be a 10:30 showing of Fantasmic at MGM that same night.

SO how long do you think it would take to walk from Epcot to MGM. I would much rather take the boat (and if there are seats and the boat if there we will jump on), but if we need to walk, can we make it? I assume we wil be done with Illuminations by 9:30, so there would be 1 hour in between shows.

Has anyone else tried this?

I do believe I'll be seeing you at the Dessert!! We actually did the 'walk' last Nov. We were in WS and decided that we really wanted to see Osbourne Family lights that night. It was about 1/2 hr. until MGM closed. And we wanted to stop in our room at BWV and drop some stuff off. We walked rapidly to BWV from WS...took about 4 minutes..walking rapidly. Ran to the room, then back to the canal walkway. I think it took us about 9 minutes to make the 'walk' and I use the term walk most loosely! It was more like a race-walk stride. But, it most likely took us about 20 minutes, including the room stop. You should be able to walk from BW to MGM in about 15 minutes at a somewhat normal/brisk pace. And it's about 6 minutes from Intnl Gtwy to BWV. So 30 minutes would be more than enough.
See you there!!!

Sounds good! Actually, our room will be at BWVs too, so we may be making a quick stop there along the way.

I guess it would be one way to burn off those desserts! :goodvibes

I am not sure if we WILL do it. If we are exhausted, we will probably just not try. BUT if we are still up to it, I would love to try to make it! We have only seen Fantasmic once, and it was raining while we watched (I sure hope it doesn't rain on our buffet!).

Thanks! See you at the buffet!

It will be close. Yes, you can definitely make it from Epcot to MGM in about 20 minutes if you are power walking (and there is a shortcut you can take by cutting up the stairs to the left of the BW lobby (if you are facing it from behind) then turn right and cut through the parking lot by the tennis courts, this would take off 2-3 minutes of having to make the loop down around Jellyrolls. You will want to hustle though, since Fantasmic can fill quickly, and if you aren't getting there until 30ish minutes you will be walking the line of being lucky to get a seat if not getting turned away because it's at capacity. The boats wouldn't be any quicker unless when you get to the Boardwalk, see if there's a boat heading under the bridge towards the Swan. If there is, then you could hoof it over to the Swan and grab the boat there. If not, then walking is definitely going to get you there faster.

Excuse my ignorance--what is the dessert buffet that you're referring to? I'm sitting here at my computer eating a Cadbury egg and reading posts, so this buffet sounds right up my alley!

Do you think the 10:30 show would fill up? I was thinking since it was kind of late, it might not be full like the earlier show. Well I am hoping anyway. I have never been to the later show, so I was just guessing it might not be full.

It is a private party that several DIS Board people are going to in 'France' on June 18th. Webmaster Penny is organizing it (details in the first link in my sig line). goofy4tink is coming to it also.

I have never been to one, but I can't wait to see all the goodies!

A few years ago I was down in July just before the 4th and the late show did not fill up. In fact, we arrived about five minutes before it started and the outside sections on both sides were completely empty!
