Anyone get the nine cent specials at Wal-Greens this week? They have a 10 pack of pencils, a 10 pack of Paper Mate pens, 2 pocket folders, and a 6 pack of hi-liters (I think Bic brand) for nine cents.

I went to Walgreens to get them and they had everything but the hi-liters. CVS had them and took the Walgreens coupon. Regular price was $6.99! Can't beat that deal. I think I am going to go back to Walgreens and buy some more before the week is over. We are always running out of pencils during the school year!

Not my Walgreens, we live in a tourist town and they definitely cater to those guests. They have plenty of Colonial Williamsburg T shirsts for sale but no school supplies on the sales paper. I've tried for the last 3 weeks, I finally gave up and went to Target and Walmart.

The kids and I go Sunday by lunch time if its a good Walgreens sale and we really want the stuff. We got the highlighters, pencils, notecards, etc. We went to two stores and the only thing we couldn't get was the posterboard

Get a raincheck! Get the kids together and you all get rainchecks they use them though out the year when you need it.

The Walgreens i go to said it was a limit of 2 per household!!!!:sad2:

I got the pens and highlighters but they didn't have the pencils. I got a lot of other good deals as well.

I need highlighters. I'll have to go and get those.

Mine was out of everything, they substituted for everything but the folders, so I got a raincheck.

I went Wedensday and they had everything, our church is collecting doantions for school supplies so it's nice to be able to get a deal and donate too!

Our Walgreen's was out of everything - they told me they'd get more in the next day, so I stopped on my lunch break. Of course, they still had nothing. This was Walgreen's last chance in my book- this is the third time I've tried to buy their advertised items and they have nothing in stock. I'm sure they want you to come in enticed by the 9 cents sales, then buy some expensively priced items while you're in there. And in our town, the clerks are very rude and won't try to help you find the advertised items. They had tons of the 1 mm pens (the same brand advertised for 9 cents) but you had to purchase the 1.2 mm which looked exactly the same and they had none of. My co-worker tried to buy some items and ended up having to go back since none of the discounts came off her receipt. It's very frustrating and not worth our time - Walmart had the same exact items in stock for a few cents more.

i noticed my walgreens always has the items but not in the special or seasonal aisle but in the normall shelf spot so the pens and folders on normal stationary spot heighlters were with the back to school aisle.

the only thing i have to say about walgreens being out of stock of things, if you wait until the middle of the week to go buy things, that are on sale, espically the 9cent items, you deserve not to get them. The Early Bird gets the worm in my book...but that is my two cents. i am sick of people bashing walgreens. of course you can go to walmart and pay a few cents more, but do you want to give business to a company that treats their employees like crap? I sure wouldn't and that is why i pay a little more or less sometimes and go to walgreens

Depends...sometimes you can go on Sunday at 7 AM (when they open the store near where I live) and the item STILL won't be there.

My Walgreens never has the sale items in stock until at least Tuesday. It's very strange. You can go at 6 am on Sunday morning and they have nothing.
Tuesday, mid-day and they might. Wed, mid-day maybe.
No rhyme or reason to it at all actually, I asked the manager the one day, is it because of when your trucks come in and he SHRUGGED!
I don't go to Walgreens very often anymore.

 For real?! Wow, that's harsh! I couldn't disagree with you more. The people in charge should be estimating demand much better than they do so they have the stock available. Since Walgreens....at least the one I visit...is notorious for not having stock, I'm thinking it's a purposeful move on their part to get you in the door and possibly buy items you might not have otherwise purchased there. I went to Walgreen's during the first 5 cent/9 cent type sale a few weeks ago right around lunch time and the shelves were already bare with no more stock in the back. They were making substitutes with other similar items and I got the last of the substituted highlighters. This was just hours in to the first day of the sale...not mid week! Same thing last week.....went Sunday and, sure enough, just as I expected, no sale items to be found. This time it was mid morning. You'd think they'd get tired of doling out rain checks and figure out how to get enough stock for sale items in the store! Oh, wait....they won't tire of that because it means people will have to return another time for their raincheck items and probably end up making more purchases while they're there.

Definitely not true - I've been there on Sundays and they have had nothing they advertised - Walgreens is notorious for advertising and not having anything in stock.
As far as Walmart treating their employees unfairly, that's not true either. My friend's son is just a cart boy there, and they pay him way above minimum wage plus he gets a nice bonus every month or so if he shows up for work every day. She said it's the best after school job any of her kids (and she has 5) have ever had.

that is amazing to me that they have nothin on a sunday. unless that store manager didn't order it, it should be there...

in response to the walmart comment, if walmart is such a great employer why are there more people working for walmart on welfare than any other company

People aren't supposed to support a family on a job at Walmart. Retail jobs are meant for part-time students and senior citizens. If you want a decent wage, you have to get an education or training! No one is going to pay someone $20 to work as a retail clerk. Unless you would like Walmart to double their prices - I think some people need an education in Economics!

Our Walgreen truck comes in on Tuesday night, so actually Wed morning is better than earlier in the week.
