I have read on other sites that Walgreens has cancelled covid tests for Canadians. Has anyone here had that experience? I read about this happening in Arizona and New York state.

Where are you reading this?????
I read it on a Canadian Snowbirds Facebook group. A couple had two appointments cancelled at different Walgreens in Arizona. I don't remember where I read the other incident but in involved cross-border shoppers in upstate New York.

They were told specifically it was because of nationality? I don’t mind paying for tests but this uncertainty around testing is going to turn many tourists off of travel. Also another reason to drive & not fly - we have an entire trip home to attempt to secure testing if it falls through.

No, there was no reason give. For the cancellation. There are indicators on the online form that they likely were t American as it asks for a driver’s licence and Social Security number.

I have 2 co-workers down in AZ on separate trips that literally just got tested on Thursday and yesterday w/out any issues. And I supplied them w step by step Walgreens booking instructions.

We went for a quick trip to Maine last weekend. Our friends tried booking us our Covid tests through Walgreens but didn’t know how to proceed past the driver’s license question. They booked us with CVS instead which worked well. However, we may need to book with Walgreens in Orlando in January and I would appreciate your step by step instructions please.

Hmm there shouldn’t be a DL question; I just went online and booked one for myself (gonna cancel it) just to make sure the booking hadn’t changed and there was no DL section? Just the regular address info which I told them to load up where they were staying and all the regular covid related questions then the stores to pick from. I just tried looking up Maine the same way for Walgreens and the closest was in NH; maybe that’s why they ran into issues? Like e confirmation you get from Walgreens mentions having ID but nothing during the online booking process

We just had our tests and we were not charged anything. They asked just for id and walked us through the process. Now we will wait for the results and hope they come in before tomorrow night or we will have to use our switch health tests we have with us.

We just used our Ontario licenses. Wasn't an issue. However, we weren't asked for our license numbers until we were actually at Walgreen's getting our tests.

I did read a couple of news articles recently where Canadian travellers are telling media outlets how easy it is to get covid tests for free at Walgreens and BeeperMD. The article said at the end they (CBC I think) reached out to Walgreens for comment but got no response. Of course this is a stark contrast to the usual articles that report PCR tests are costing $200-$300 and so I started to wonder if these “free” tests are coming to an end. I hope not, but when I read this post, I thought… oh oh… luckily, I don’t think this is related, at least at this point In time.

I think as long as the US Govt pays for them and they don't get push back the free tests will stay. Even if say they got push back on 1/10 tests they submitted its an absolutely huge market for companies like Beeper MD, CVS, Walgreens etc.. The companies don't want these tests to go away as Im guessing its quite a revenue stream

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly and for going through the trouble of booking an appointment that you just have to cancel. Not sure what happened as I didn’t do it myself but in the end worked out well with CVS.

I assume whoever was doing it for you, answered yes to one of the insurance questions instead of no.
