Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here. I'm beginning to research our first Disneyworld vacation and I am thoroughly overwhelmed and confused. We're thinking of staying at the WA. We're attracted to the affordable cost, the cool-looking pool areas between the WA and the Hilton, and the ability to escape to a different environment at the end of a day at Disney.

I was looking at the dining options at the WA and, for the most part, they look very expensive. What do vacationers typically do for dining when staying offsite? We're bringing two kids with pretty typical kids' palettes, so we don't need anything too fancy and are looking to keep our costs as reasonable as possible. Thanks for any advice or insight!

I should have added... we are not planning on renting a car.
With no car, you are being held captive to dining at Disney theme parks, resorts and the resort you are staying at.

The Waldorf and the Hilton are luxury hotels that charge luxury hotel prices for dining.

You could walk next door to Wyndham Bonnet Creek, which has a few more dining options as well, but you won't find any bargains there either.

Other than the Wyndham complex, There are no other dining options you can get to without a car.

After visiting the parks, you could take the Disney bus to the food courts at the Art of Animation resort, Pop Century or Riverside. After dining there, you could take a cab back to your resort. The cab ride should be less than $20. Of course, that will eat into any savings.

I would suggest you invest some of money you are saving by staying offsite and rent a car. You have to get from the airport to your resort anyway. Then you can easily drive to a million places for a cheap meal, plus be able to come and go as you please without have to wait around for buses.

In the end though, for first-timers with no needs other than a regular hotel room and no car, I would recommend you stay at a Disney resort. I would suggest a moderate resort that has a food court, like Riverside/Port Orleans. For a family trip to Disney, I think that will work out better than staying at the Waldorf.

You could have Giordanos delivered. We loved it! The Waldorf looked very nice. I walked over from WBC and checked it out. I think the Waldorf has a shuttle to Downtown Disney where there are several dining options. I would want a car, which are very inexpensive in Orlando.
