I just bought a Dell 15.6" laptop with entel Pentium and Windows 7 Home for $399 at Best Buy.
I also got 1 year of virus protection and 6 months of Geek Squad for free.
I feel more comfortable buying a computer from Best buy than Walmart, I think even though they are young kids the Best Buy people seem to know more about computers. They were very helpful and gave me alot of good advice.
The last time I went to Best Buy the associatess were more intent on selling me the Geek Squad than a computer. Hadn't picked out a computer and wanted input and all it kept going back to was Geek Squad. I thanked them and left after 30 minutes of the hard Geek sell and only "yes that's a great computer" (which it seems that all the computers are "great" so long as you get Geek Squad). I am in the market for a second home computer for the kids just haven't decided if I want a laptop for convience or a desk top.
OP - Keep checking. I bought that Walmart laptop a couple of weeks ago at Walmart for $288 (exact same one). They had it on sale.
For the poster who bought at Best Buy, just pray you never have issues with your computer. That's where BB is really lacking. Their so-called warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. I'll never buy another electronic item from them again.
IMO, The price of laptops has gone down so much in the last few years there really is no reason to purchase the extended warranties. It seems to me they are more of a hassle than anything. Sorry, no I do not want an 80.00 warranty on my 200.00 pc.
I have worked on a couple of friends computers after they have gotten viruses or downloaded every program imaginable and most of the time the most effective option was to back up what they needed and just do a factory restore. No need for the geek squad for that.

Thanks Diabolicdesire and Darcy for posting this info about the 2GB laptop! I called and/or visited FOUR Walmarts before I found one that had this laptop in stock for $288!!
I got it a few days before BF in case I couldn't get the $298 3GB laptop. And I'm glad I did! I went to Walmart at 4:00 am on BF thinking I would get the laptop. No such luck. They started giving out the tickets at MIDNIGHT
Well, I'm just glad I FINALLY got a laptop. Now I just need to get a DVR and I will be thoroughly modern
