I've been reading so many posts about waking up Tinkerbell. It seems really neat, and I'd be interested in watching this happen with my husband. The problem is, we don't have kids and wouldn't want to take away this opportunity from other families with children. When this event happens, do they only allow the family who will be waking up Tinkerbell in the store, or are other allowed to be there? I would love to observe this, and also to see child's face light up who got to wake Tink up. Thanks for any info. Also, where exactly is the store?

I can't answer the "waking up" part, but the store is located in Fantasyland. If you walk through the castle from Main Street, the store is on the left once you enter Fantasyland.

laurajetter,
Our two dds did this in January and yes, it was fun to watch their faces light up. There was no one else in the store at that time, but only because no one had come inside yet. You will be able to watch if you time it just right (get there when the first child asks to wake up Tink). If I were you, I would plan on heading right there after MK opening and asking the CMs if anyone has woken Tink yet and if not, just hang out for a bit to see if anyone comes. You are very nice to not want to take this experience away from a child, but as a parent I would think that after a certain amount of time if no child comes in to ask, you might cater to the child in within you and wake her up yourself! Good luck! Tell that Tink hello and good morning when you see her!

Is it just the very first people in the store in the morning that get to do it?

I swear, I'm pulled in six million different directions the second I cross that turnstile!!!

Yes, I think it only happens once a day and the first person there gets to wake up Tinkerbelle.

We've never done it or seen it but are going to try during our trip next month (if feels GREAT to be able to say NEXT month !!!).

We have an 8:05 PS @ CRT on a Saturday morning and if we can time it right I'd like to try and be the first ones in the store when the park opens at 9:00. I haven't mentioned it to DD just in case we aren't the first ones there ..... I wouldn't want her to be disappointed.

My boys got to do this last year and yes only one child or set of children get to do this. But there can be others in the store. Sadly there were other kids that wanted to do it but they had to watch since we got in there first. I was happy for my kids but sad for those that didn't get to do it.

Your best bet is to just get to that store the second it opens and then wait for the first child to come and do it. We had to haul butt to get there first. And we just got in there seconds before the others. My ds also got to "open" FantasyLand by waving a magic sword. The first boy they asked to do it was too afraid so ds raised his hand. What an amazing time we had!!!:Pinkbounc

I agree that if no children come you should go with it and ask. They may even let a child do it again after you leave. You also get a certificate and stickers for your family. A nice momento

OK, I've never heard of waking Tink or being selected to open a section of the park. What other hidden special moments are there? Is there a site that lists these out? I'm very intrigued!!!

I also have never heard of this. Maybe we will try to "wake Tinkerbell" when we are there in just 44 days!!

That is soo cool. I am going to try that our next trip with DD (5).
She would love just to see it even if she isn't the one to do the waking.

I don't know about waking Tink anymore. The store has been completely redone and it used to be you'd hear the Tink tinkle and the lights would blink all around the store and go into Tink places ie: a tree truck and a treasure chest. We were there in July and commented that we couldn't see Tink anymore and the CM said that you can still hear her just not see her.

We did this on two occasions with my two girls when we were there in February 2004 (each girl got to wake Tinkerbelle on a separate day). I thought, however, that you had to buy something in order to be able to do this. Was I wrong? Can you just show up and, if you are the first to ask, you get to do it? If so, I want my money back!

No, you don't have to purchase anything. We didn't get to do this in November when we were there but we got to watch it. We are hoping to be able to actually do it this year. I am going there on my birthday and hoping my boys get to wake her up on my special day!

Actually, if no child comes in to wake up Tink, you could spread a little Disney Magic and tell a little girl or boy about it and let them get to wake her up. Can you imagine what a surprise that would be for some child and their family?!?

I'm leaving tomorrow and my son would love to do this. Can someone tell me what the name of the store is??

Thank you

We watched this Last year feb. The rope dropped at the castle and the people running to Tinks place reminded me of the old BTMRR stampede,LOL! No offense but don't hold your breath or get your kids to excited. It's not a big secret anymore,

littlestix - On your return can you come back and post if you are still able to Wake Tink.

Enjoy your trip.

My children were able to do this in July. We went on an EE day and while everyone was rushing to Dumbo and Space Mountain we walked quickly (didn't run) to Tink's Treasures and no one was there.

The first child in the Christmas shoppe in Liberty Square gets to decorate the Christmas tree that day, put their name on the plaque showing that they decorated it and they get a certificate and a free personalized ornament.

DD got to do this in Sept. 2002 and we didn't know about it - we walked in the store (and if I remember correctly the park had been opened for 1+ hours already - but it was Sept-low crowds) and a CM asked DD if she wanted to decorate the tree.

The free ornament was a white pearlized Mickey head ornament and they wrote DD's name on it with a light blue paint pen.

I just recently found out about this as well. We are planning on trying to wake Tinkerbell on our upcoming trip in November. I haven't shared that with my two DD's though in case it doesn't happen. Hopefully we can get to do this!!

Also, thanks for the info on the tree decorating, WeLoveThePoly!! That was something I did not know about ;) !
