I saw something in another post about trying to wake Tinkerbell when MK opens. I have never heard of this before; my 9 year old is a HUGE Tinkerbell fan! Please share any details you know.

Thanks!

Best short description I've found:

"Visit Tinkerbell's Treasures, a shop behind the castle, as soon as it opens. Inside the shop is a very special treasure box where Tinkerbell sleeps! If you are the first guest of the day to enquire, you might be lucky enough to be asked to wake her up. You’ll be told to wave a wand, say "Wake up, Tinkerbell" three times, and then you’ll hear Tink fly around the room. Of course, you probably won't manage to spot her because she's a fairy and flies pretty fast once she’s woken up, but you will see flashing lights and hear bells so you’ll know when she’s awake. You might also be given a certificate and some stickers."

I understand that this is becoming more and more popular to do. My DD was able to wake up Tinkerbell 2 years ago. The first day we tried at gate opening but got there too late. The 2nd day we had breakfast in the castle (first seating) and were lined up prior to the rope drop. We were at the rope inside the castle and simply had to walk 30 steps or so to the shop. DD was able ask the CM if she could wake up Tink and she did.

I have to say I felt bad for the few girls who came in while DD was doing this and were asking is they could wake up Tink. It's too bad Tink does not take a few naps during the day and needs to be woken up a few times thruout the day!

We did the same thing on our trip last year. Had 8:05 seating for Cinderella's, then lined up at Fantasyland rope drop. Could tell there was another girl next to DD that was waiting for the same thing. They started talking and ended up holding hand and going together at rope drop and they both got to do it. They also got certificates. It was neat! :thumbsup2

we also did this.. my little girl is 4 and loved it! Its very very hard to be the first person so I wouldn't get your little girls heart set on it.. make it a surprise!

We had an unusual experience with this but it turned ou to be wonderful.
Last September we ate breakfast at the Castle (8:05 am) and were waiting at the rope drop for the park opening only a few steps from the store. While waiting, we discovered that another young girl and her parents were waiting to do the same thing. We all discussed (as mature adults should) entering the store together so that all our girls might have a chance to wake up Tink.
Well, when the rope dropped, we (our family and the group we just met) proceeded quite briskly toward the store just as a lady runs past us with a stroller in one hand and carrying her daughter under the other arm like a "sack of potatoes". As she entered the store, she hurled the empty stroller in front of our group, nearly knocking over our 3 year old. Once inside the store, the CM's were in the doorway of the backroom and she began screaming at the top of her lungs "We were here first, we want to wake up Tink" over and over. By the time the CM's came out into the store, there were six little girls all wanting to work their magic. The CM asked who wanted to wake up Tink, all the childred raised their hands (with the mother in question still yelling "We were here first") and then put a crown on each of their heads. She explained that Tink had a habit of needing to be awaken several times each morning (like a snooze alarm) so each little girl was able to wake up Tink and received a Certificate. My girls were thrilled, the other girls were thrilled, although I swear I think the magic might have been lost for the mother when she realized her daughter was not the only one getting to "Wave the wand".

Two pieces of advice should you wish to do this with your childred.
1. Keep it a secret. From the posts it appears many CM's are not as generous with "The Magic"
2. Be courteous. A little kindness will go a long way.

This is such a common occurance that I have a name for it:
"SMACK-DOWN at Tinkerbell's."

Here's a post I wrote earlier this month:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to near "fisticuffs" between parents as to whose little angel was FIRST
(or OUGHT to be first, or DESERVES to be first, or was PROMISED to be first, or THOUGHT she was first, or youngest, or saddest, or cutest, or... you get the idea.)

There are many mornings when more than one (a lot more than one) young guest gets to "wake up" the snoozy Tink.

So don't break any speed-records (or bones) trying to be FIRST...
just go on over to the shop and discreetly ask a store CM the status of Tink's sleep-condition.

We were there on several days in late January this year when there were lots of folks already riding attractions, the doors to Tinkerbell's Treasures were wide open... and not a single little angel was around to wake the fairy.
Guess Tink got to sleep-in a bit on those days...

I stood off to the side, watching the non-activity for a few minutes.
I didn't want to chance stepping in front of any "MOM" who might come rocketing-in behind me, warning me to "Back-OFF, my Mindy wants to be FIRST!"

SMACK-DOWN at Tink's... Film at Eleven!

Just so you know, the famous tinkerbell sound that goes around the room, is intermittent. As soon as the light travels around the room, if you're standing there peeking in the keyhole of the drawer, she will light up very briefly.

You can see her light up anytime during the day. Sometimes you just have to wait your turn. Sometimes I'll tell a little kid that is standing nearby and it's so neat to see their face light up when they see her!

We always take my 2 year old to let him peek in.
One of those goofy traditions we have.

So take your little ones at any time and tell they they get to wake her up! It doesn't have to be first thing in the morning. ;)

My family also had reservations at CRT for breakfast although ours were for 9:00 they let us in early and we stood at the rope waiting to wake Tinker when we heard another family talking about it our girls did the same as earlier post held hand and ran over together, they were the only two there so they held the wand together and woke TinkerBell for the day. They both got certificates and they split the stickers. I felt really bad because another mom with a DD had ran from the gate and was really disappointed , I wish Tinker would take naps too!!!!

I totally agree.. I think this is starting to be a huge disappointment! We are telling our daughter she needs to let another princess wake her up this time.... she did it once when she was 3 and has not forgot it. Its hard to do and exhausting from the gate.

Sometimes it's not just the parents who are physically aggressive over this. This past January I was at the rope with my 9 y/o GD. I had told her about waking Tink and she was excited to try, but also understood that she may just get to watch and was OK with that too. While we were waiting we saw a family loudly pushing their way to the front with two little girls in tow and heard them talking about waking Tink. The older girl was about my GD's age, but very overweight. My GD told me that as soon as the rope dropped she was running and for me to catch up with her inside the shop. My GD is by far the fastest kid in her class, so I guess neither of us was concerned about her outrunning the other girls. What we didn't take into consideration was that the other girl had heard her and just as the rope was dropped, reached out with both hands and pushed my unsuspecting GD to the ground, then took off running with her parents laughing and cheering her on. My GD jumped up and ran after her and once she entered the store told the CM what the other girl had done, but the CMs didn't do anything other than glaring at the other little girl and her parents. They still let her and her sister be the ones to wake Tink. Personally I think they either should have let my GD (due to the other girl's rudeness and physicality) or else allowed Tink to sleep in that day and allow no one to wake her. When I said something to the parents about their daughter pushing my GD, they just shrugged their shoulders and said a kid had to use whatever advantage she had.

Wow I hope her parents are proud of her and tell all their family and friends how clever she is.... :sad2:

This is what we did. The CM's were so nice to my DGD and another little girl who was watching her. They took her down to peek inthe drawer, making a production out of the entire episode. It was a little magical moment for both girls, and no drama at the opening of the store.

Forget parents pushing & shoving to get their kids to the front of the line...I've read posts where grown adults have argued that because WDW is meant for "the child in everyone" that they, the grown adult, should be able to "wake tinkerbell"!! I cannot imagine the spectacle of seeing, first thing in the morning, a grown man or woman running around the shop with the wand shouting "Wake up, Tinkerbell" as children look on disappointedly. Oh...the horror...

It is unbelievable. DD got to wake Tink on her 3rd birthday. It was dumb luck. I have since told dd (now 5.5) that it was a one time thing and someone else deserved a turn. This has made the wait for the rope drop almost comical. Instead of wondering if we'll get to wake Tink, we get to watch the psycho's! On our last trip we saw adults shoving each other to get into the store first. When we went into the store later the CM and I were talking about how ridiculous it had become. She said she hoped they'd do away with the whole thing as there is nothing special about it anymore. It's too bad adults manage to ruin so much.
