I have heard mention of this, can someone explain how this works and would a 5 year old boy enjoy it or is it strickly for girls?

Thanks

IMO, it would only be for girls. My niece woke Tink up in '05 and it was special for her. It is basically saying "Wake up Tinkerbell" and the lights flash across the store and then you open up a drawer and you see "Tink's" empty bed. My niece was given a certificate to commemorate the special deed.

Where and how does this happen?? Even if my two daughters think they're too old for this, I'm not!! Any info for mom would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tink's store, just on the other side of the Castle. You have to walk REALLY fast during rope drop, avoiding all the people racing to Splash and Big Thunder, run (oops, walk briskly) through the Castle and into the store. If you are good, you can race there, wake Tink, race over to Tom Sawyer Island, find a paintbrush, then go back and ride Dumbo before the line gets long! (yep, I've done this a couple of times....)

My then 6 year old son enjoyed doing it when we were there 2 years ago. With that being said, much older then that age, I would have not let him do it so someone younger could have the chance.

My 7 year old BOY loved waking Tink up TWICE over our Christmas 2006 trip. He was able to wake her on December 27 and 29...days the park opened at 7 a.m. The first time the CMs were ready for us. The second day there was only one CM who was stocking shelves and she had to call someone on the phone to help us. They didn't have any wands ready or anything, but they eventually found a different one from two days prior. Both days we didn't see another sole in the store, but that wasn't the case last summer when we tried to wake her and were too late (along with the other parade of parents & kids asking!).

I say, why should gender matter? If you think you're little boy would enjoy this, then by all means try to get there first and do it.

Here are some pictures from both days (notice the difference two days makes in attire :) ).

Are you kidding!!!
My two boys look for tink here at home everyday!!!!!
They ask me almost weekly when tink and peter are going to come bring them to neverland!
If your boys want to do it, GO FOR IT!!!!!:thumbsup2

Once upon a time I thought I new a lot about disney.. hmmm have I been enlightened.. so at the risk of sounding silly, what is the "find a paintbrush" about????
:goodvibes

The paintbrushes are so much fun!! :woohoo:

You need to be on the first raft over to Tom Sawyers' Island. The storyline is that as they were painting, Tom and Huck managed to lose some paintbrushes. Those people that find them and return them (1 per family) get a family fastpass to either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder to be used whenever. I think they also gave my little boys a couple of Sheriff's badges.

My kids had to do this every morning that we were at MK. It's important to be on the first boat --- they do not rehide the brushes. It's very competitive -- most people split up their families somewhat. Some days your lucky to find one at all!! Then there was the day where somehow we ended up with 5!! :lmao: Just at the right places at the right time.....we then watched for families with very small children and "hid" the extra paintbrushes so the little ones could find them. :goodvibes With the older elementary and teenage kids going through very fast, the little ones who dawdle while exploring dont' have much of a chance.

There are nice shady areas where you can sit and wait while your kids explore the island. This was definitely a highlight of the trip for both my younger ones and my teenager.

They let both DD & DS wake Tink at the same time. They gave DS a sword to tap her box with.

Is there more than one rope drop? Sounds like there is a seperate one if you have breakfast at the castle? And if so, do you have a chance if your at the entrance at Main St. Also, I think I remembered they picked a child to cut the ribbon and open the park many years ago, does this still happen? What if there is an extra magic hours a.m. opening? We are staying on property, does that mean guests going during those hours have first shot? Of course we never make it to the parks until around 11:00, but waking tink and the paintbrushes sounds like fun sooo....

When I was there I went in with my daughter (20) and the lady said "usually a cute LITTLE girl does it" I said this is my little girl s=and she wants to let Tinkerbell out. The lady told her how to do it and she got a certificate. Hey, in Disney everyone is a child!!!!

Here here! I'm 21 and if I wanted to do it, I would hope Disney wouldn't hassle me about it. Everyone is a child at heart at Disney.

What if there is an extra magic hours a.m. opening?

Only Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open during am EMH. I don't know how this would affect the shop being open and when Tink would wake up. I would think that she would wake up when Fantasyland opens.:confused3 Then, later, there is a separate rope drop for the other areas of the park to open. So, even if you missed am EMH, you would still have a shot at the paintbrushes when the park officially opens.
