Is anyone aware if you get a waiver from a pediatrician if Disney will allow you take an infant under 12 weeks of age on the ship?
We have a cruise booked for 6-04 and may have a new baby then-just curious. Does all the cruise lines have the same rules?

Michigan RN:
I really doubt if DCL would allow it, but the only way to know for sure is to call them....1-800-951-3512. I think that's the right number...otherwise go to www.disneycruise.com...the number is there.

Actually I don't think Disney will allow it. That rule is in place for the infants protection as well as DCL's. If you're cruising and an under 12 week old develops a fever, the protocol is to immediately hospitalize the infant for 72 hours. During a cruise, this would be impossible due to being in a different country or even at sea. The insurance implications on something like this happening is astronomical, so I highly doubt DCL would allow this. If you do happen to become pregnant and wouldn't be able to sail due to the age of the infant, you'll probably have to reschedule.

I wouldn't be surprised if DVC had a restriction that prevented children even older than 3 months, maybe as much as 6 months. Please make certain with DCL.

Still, there's no hard and fast rule to hospitilize or even do major tests on a child less than 8 weeks (or 12 weeks). It is common to do blood work, urine, CXR and spinal tap. Antibiotics (injectable) are frequently given. Each case is different and I'd sure hate to be on a cruise in the situation being discussed (infant with a fever) just in case it were something serious. Good luck, I hope it works out.

No, they definitely will not allow infants under 12 weeks of age to sail, sorry. There are no waivers.

I don't know if you are pregnant already or when you are due. Just to make you aware that they won't let a pregnant woman cruise after a certain point either. I think it's about 38 weeks? The airlines are also pretty strict about it.

No pregnant women after 24th week. Friend just went through this and can't be on cruise with me.
