Hi there! I’m coming up on my 31 day mark on my reservation for December. I had a waitlist for a night at BPK (currently have the old building for every night but one) and it’s not looking like that waitlist will fill and we’re going to have to change rooms. I was wondering for those who had their waitlists expire at 7 days, do waitlist’s very frequently fill once you get below the 31 day mark? Just dreading having to move rooms, so bummed that a one night waitlist never came through.

They do, but you may have points stranded in holding if the waitlist fills and it's fewer points.

They CAN fill because people cancel. Keep stalking, to see if you can get the night yourself, and then cancel the waitlist. Good luck!

I had one waitlist come thru at exactly 31 days. When the CM called me about it (she had a question about it), she told me that there's always a jump in right around then for people. If something happens to make it look like canceling (maybe a family member gets sick, or someone going on the trip breaks a bone) people say, "Well, we don't have to cancel yet-let's wait and see, maybe Uncle Charlie will get better" or "Maybe my bone will heal sooner than the doctor says." But as the 31 days ticks closer, and the dreaded "holding points" looms, people realize that now they'd better decide. Keep hoping!

I always do 7 day waitlists. If there's a small difference in points, I'd rather have a few points go into holding than have to change rooms. As I make multiple trips per year, sometimes I can save the points.

I had a similar scenario as you. I booked a resort studio standard view for 3 nights, or so I thought. I'd booked two nights than added a third night which I hadn't yet asked to have combined. A couple of days ago, I was flipping through my reservations and realized I'd booked a standard studio for my 3rd night, not a resort standard.

Set up a waitlist for 7 days before and lucky for me it came through this morning! My trip is March over Easter - the week prior and during. I move to Animal Kingdom for day 4 through 6, so 3 nights in each resort.

There was a moment of crazy this morning. An email came through saying 'your room has been canceled'. Used to be 'We can't wait to Welcome You Home'. Rushed to my account and found my waitlist had filled.

Now I'm waiting on another waitlist and I doubt I'll get it, but I'll ride with it all the way, including doing some stalking as much as possible during the last 7 days. I 'often' see rooms pop up in the last two or three days as I'm searching for vacations. Good luck to you!

PS - I'm one of those people changing things all the time.

These are some great points! I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

This is so true about having a few points in holding vs having to move rooms. I’m so stingy with my points that I’d hate to have a few expire but thinking about it from your perspective of it being preferable to moving rooms makes more sense! So glad to hear your waitlist came through!

We’re they one night waitlists or longer?
They were actually for a Friday and Saturday night (two nights together) for two different resorts SSR and BCV - both 1bdrs. I actually put them in under the 31 day threshold (very recently) and they were the same points (as SSR preferred was the same as a BCV). The SSR popped first, so I chatted with the rep to update my BCV waitlist to replace my SSR reservation should it come through. Three days later the BCV waitlist came through.
