Waitlists and Calling MS

I am curious about how you all feel about how to handle a waitlist. I have searched the waitlist threads and have read many of them. My concern is that people are saying that their waitlists are not coming through "until they call".
I am waitlisted for three nights May and I am fighting the feeling that I should call and call and call. I know that we are not supposed to call and the waitlist should work...but, after reading many posts from members saying that they did not get their rooms until they called - has made me uneasy. Does the waitllist sytem work?

I have never called and my waitlists have always come through. I think we've done 2 or 3, including Beach Club Villas during Christmas week and Boardwalk during Food and Wine. So I guess we have good luck. I don't think calling has anything to do with it, but others do.

I don't know how it always works, but I can just tell you that I was on the wait list for about 2 weeks for one of the nights I needed in the middle of my December trip and it came through yesterday.....no calling!!

This is my first time using the waitlist myself. I am sure it works. Plenty of people have called and called to get what they want and others don't realize their waitlist have come through until they look online.

I just called again after 4 days and I didn't get my waitlist but I did get 3 nights at another resort. So for now I am doing a split stay with 3 nights at SSR and then 3 nights at WLV. I am still on the waitlist but I may cancel.

There is nothing wrong with calling.

The only time I might call is if you couldn't put in a wait list for other options you wanted due to the two wait list limit.

Or, once you get below 31 days, to check. We were wait listed for BLT last summer but could only do two of the views. So, I called regularly to see if that last view was available.

The only other reason I might call periodically is if I was willing to spit stay my trip and take rooms for less than all the nights. Sometimes, people have been able to fill their waitlist this way.

For example, you are waiting on 5 days and have WL'd all 5 days, two different views. You call and find out that the 1st two days are now available for one of the views--you book those and change your wait lists for just the last 3 days.

But, other than that, I would just let the system work. Good luck!!!

Our Dec/09 trip I called at the 7 mo mark and the only resort was OKW. I waitlist for BWV & BCV. I called randomly and got 2 nites at BWV. The rest never cam thru. Our trip this OCT we waitlisted for BLT LV and got all 7 nites after 2 days.

Hit or miss
