Waitlisting Thanksgiving at Boardwalk Villas

I think I'm turning in to the wait list queen. Just thought I'd post a thread about my Thanksgiving wait list journey. Just booked at Boardwalk Villas for T-Day - here are the details:

Booked 11/21 - 11/26 in a 1BR Standard View

Booked 11/28 - 30 in the same

Wait list for the nights of 11/26 and 27 (Thanksgiving Day)

Oh my gosh I'm wondering what the chances are! I'll keep this thread updated as things change - maybe it will help someone along the way . . .

This is my first time booking standard view at the BW. The last few times we've gone and stayed in BW view or PV, the "view" has been not so great. I figured that I would give the SV a shot. Save some points . . . for more trips

Keep checking the online reservation system, 1 night could come up or even both nights if they were just cancelled.

Quick update - For many days, the only availability for any one bedroom or studio has been at SSR. I like that resort but want to either get my BW waitlist or go somewhere new. I was able to get a studio yesterday at the AK Jambo savanna view for the nights of Nov 26 and 27. I would imagine someone had just cancelled it right before I searched. I am excited at the prospect of staying there but would rather have a seamless stay at the BW. We will see how it goes . . . I'll update when / if stuff changes.

Have not gotten my two nights at BW in a one bedroom standard. I have been (compulsively) checking availability several times a day and no dice. (I work from home in front of a computer all day so it's pretty easy.) I am aware that it's during one of the busiest times at the world but I am a little surprised that not even one night came through . . . Anyway, I did luck out and get a BLT studio for these nights (cancelled my AKV as BLT is more up our alley). I made that switch a couple of days ago. We shall see . . .

I am posting this experience so that people can get a feel for what it's like booking seven (or less) months out and having to waitlist for portions of their trip. We leave in a few weeks so I'll wrap up our experience at that point.

Remember, wait lists fill in their entirety, so if you set it up for both nights, it would only fill when both were available, not one or the other.

But, I am glad to see that you were able to get something for the missing nights that you can live with.

I would think that as you are now approaching the cutoff for cancellations going into the holding account (30 Days to 1 Day Before the Reservation Date), perhaps more will open up.

I was wait listed for 12/31 to 1/2, and have been checking hour by hour for a cancellation, I did pick up the night of the 31st, still trying to get the 1st and 2nd. Considering they are probably the highest demand nights, only time will tell.

I actually wait-listed the 1 and 2 of January in September at BLT as individual nights and got them both filled within a a week or 2 from the wait list! And I had been stalking the website with no luck!

Excellent point - I didn't change the waitlist to individual nights until a few weeks ago. I should have set them up like that from the get go.
