Waitlisting question

I'm renting from a friend who's use year is April. We're booked for early December in a 2 bedroom non-bw view at BWV. I'd really like to stay at BLT instead. Although I'd like to go in early December, my travel dates are flexible. When exactly do I begin calling to go on the waitlist for BLT - 7 months before any date that I'd be willing to start my reservation? Example - May 1 if I'm willing to start on Dec. 1, and April 28 if I'm willing to book as early as Nov. 28?

The owner can request the wait list at 7 months. BLT is a hard resort to get a reservation at due to the limited number of rooms. You should have rented from someone who owns there.

Yes, that is correct - 7 months prior to the desired check in date. At that time you can try to reserve up to 7 nights.

For those who may not know, only the owner can call MS to make points reservations. If you are calling, you must be a very close friend of the owner because he/she would either have to make you an associate on the contract or give you the information you need to pretend to be her/him.

Use year makes no difference for when you call to make the reservation.

Also assume you and your friend know that BLT will require more points than BWV.

Feel free to ignore any information/advice you didn't want, LOL.

Good luck!

P.S. Both BWV and BLT are wonderful places to be in early December.

She is a really good friend, and only charged me $7 a point, so it was an offer that couldn't be beat, even if it means we're at BWV, not BLT. I'd still like to try for BLT, though.

Thanks for all you advice - ALL was very much appreciated! (She did say she'd give me all the info I need to pretend to be her, so that I can make my own calls at the 7 month mark.

P.S. - I'm even willing to go in early November. Should I try to call in early April to see if this is a possible move?

If the dates of the stay aren't as important as staying at BLT, try for the week before the week of Thanksgiving (11/13/10 -11/20/10). It's after Food & Wine, but you'll probably get to see most of the Holiday decorations and be able to attend a MVMCP. It will be less crowded than early December (or at worst about the same). I think you will be able to get a Lake view at BLT for that time at 7 months without waitlisting.

Then if you like, you can call to see what may be available for the same dates you have at the BWV - if that would be a better time for you.

Still a very good idea to call right at 9 am Eastern on the first day your window opens. If you are going to stay a week, your chances are usually better if you begin your stay on a Friday or Saturday night.
