Waitlisting and One-Time Use Points Question

Can you waitlist and specify that you would like to borrow some points plus purchase one-time use points if it comes through?

For example, can I have two nights booked at AKV for 24 points, then waitlist BLT for 30 points? Then if it comes through have them cancel the AKV, borrow 5 points from next UY and charge me $15 for one point? I know, very complicated and probably can't be done. I'm just considering all my options for my October trip.

You can't use one time purchased points for a waitlist. Your question does sound more complicated, but I think the end answer would be the same.

To get around this I added a night to my reservation. It went like this... I had 7 days at okw, but wanted to waitlist for something that was 13 points more... So I booked 8 nights at okw (buying those extra points for the okw reservation) and then I wait listed the 7 days I actually wanted and my waitlist came through. It was a gamble but it worked out for me.

That would certainly work if the OP is willing to gamble the waitlist will work.

If the waitlist doesn't come through, she will be out $15 plus the value of the borrowed points (if she doesn't have a use for the 6 points before the end of the use year).
