I have been waitlisted on Amazon for the laptop they had during the lightning deals promotions, it took all of like 20 seconds for that laptop to sell out :rotfl2:

so what does waitlisted mean? when will I know if i have the laptop or not?
When I added it to the cart it still said 90% left.

What happens with the waitlist is that if somebody who put the item in his cart does not check out within 15 minutes, the item will be offered to the next person on the waitlist who will then have 15 minutes to check out. Yesterda I got a little notification by my cart icon saying when I got something that I had requested to be waitlisted for.

The waitlist thing did not work well for me yesterday, somehow I went from #50 to #185 and never got the deal.

Is Toshiba a good computer? Too many options, numbers, etc. What does it all mean? My son needs a laptop to go to college with next fall and he said his top choices would be Dell or HP. Does it really matter?

I honestly have no idea, fiance said that was the one he was looking at in the store and the one he wanted so for the price and b/c it was what he wanted I jumped on it. I honestly was looking @ Best Buy and they had a toshiba for $349.99 ($25 more) and he said no the Amazon one was better, they looked the same to me, IDK, he said he'd be getting a whole gig(???? I think that was the word?) for $25 less.

I guess maybe people's opinions vary on what they will be using it for? FIance will be doing fantasy sports and things like that with his, maybe Dell and HP is better for school related things?

I'm just going to use mine as my everyday computer, and I checked with my (IT specialist) brother after I bought it. Toshiba's a good brand, Intel is better than Athlon and miles above Celeron for the processor, and with 3 gigabytes memory and 320 GB hard drive, it's a MUCH better deal than the other computers in the same price range.

It's even a good deal at Amazon's regular price, but you can get it for about that same price at toshibadirect.com

We've had terrible luck with Toshibas. We had a really nice, expensive one and after a few months we could only use it on a flat surface (no laps) and a couple months after that something inside it started shorting out and it would randomly turn off, then it would start to load and you'd see the "windows" load screen before it would power off. DH looked online (he's a tech guy and can take apart and fix most computers) and said that it was a glitch with a lot of Toshiba models. Hopefully they've fixed it by now (this was 4 years ago). We're still gun-shy about them though so won't buy them.

Awesome news though on getting your waitlist item!!

I have had a Toshiba for a little over a year now. It has been great and I use mine daily (it is on from 6 am until midnight) for business and then also for personal. For what I paid I am more then happy with it! DH likes it too, but he has his own computer.
