Waitlisted for Thanksgiving

Hi all you DVC experts,
I called this morning to book a 2 bedroom for 11/26 to 11/28 and was trying to AKV. Unfortunately no resorts had anything available except SSR. I am grateful that I could get something on property but sad that I couldn't get AKV because we are bringing friends for their first visit and I really wanted them to see the Lodge. I've never waitlisted before but I used both of my waitlists to try to get into AKV. I think I was dumb though because I did both for Jambo house (one standard and one value). I think now I would have had a better chance if I had asked for Kidani.

Anyway has anyone ever waitlisted for a major holiday night before and gotten it?

Luckily I had enough BCV points that I had already booked our 11/28-12/4 stay at the 11 month window at BCV. So in the end even if I don't get the waitlist we are going to be spending 9 nights at WDW and there's nothing better than that.

Not sure about the answer on getting your waitlist, but I will also be there for Thanksgiving with our whole family. I called on the 21st (7 months) right at 9 am hoping for the 3 bedroom villas at OKW. I was hoping they would still be there since it was only the second day of booking Thanksgiving night 7 months out but not luck. They only had 2 two bedrooms, so I have 2 rooms at OKW and 3 rooms at SSR. I didn't bother with the waitlist, too confusing to figure out the rooms with everyone and I think it is better for us to all be separate anyway.

We to will be at SSR during Thanksgiving week. This is our first trip to the parks and our first stay at a DVC resort. The past 2 years have been spent on the Magic. Gonna miss the boat but it's time to give the parks a try.
