Waitlisted for early dining

We are waitlisted for the early seating for dinner. Has anyone had any luck getting their seating time changed from late to early before the actual cruise or does it always end up being that you have to stand in line after you get on the ship to try and get the seating time changed? I have called Disney reservations a few times to make sure that I am still on the waitlist, but so far have not had any success in getting the earlier seating. Anybody else had any luck before embarking? I wonder if they just say you are waitlisted but there really isn't a waitlist!!!

We have been successful changing twice before the cruise and once we waited until the cruise and there was no way! The two times I changed prior, I called and bugged them every day. Even though you are on the waitlist, they do not pull from the waitlist every day. So, lets say someone cancels and you happen to call in, you could get the early dinner before someone on the waitlist. The one time we waited until the cruise, we got in line and they told everyone in line to forget it. I don't know if anyone else has had a good experience changing once you get to the boat. I also think part of it depends on what time of year you are cruising.

Well, we had a VERY complicated situation fixed on board. We were traveling with another family. There were 3 of us, and 4 of them. They had a TOTALLY different dining rotaion than we and we BOTH had late dining. We went to where you get on that list and asked for BOTH EARLY dining, AND MY dining rotation. So, they first dealt with early dining then they changed our friends over to our rotation since we had the best one for the Eastern Cruise. And you know what? They did it!! Amazing. So, never fear! We didn't ask BEFORE hand since we didn't know our rotations, but once we got there, we saw how it was all wrong, and they managed to fix it.

We were waitlisted last May for early dining and we got it before the cruise! Just check back often or have your TA (if you trust them to do it) check often. We used Dreams and Donna was excellent about re-checking our dining often and got us moved to the early seating.
